Sullivans Island, SC
Sullivan's Island, with its three miles of beach, is known as a residential friendly escape. At low tide, the beach is wide and the sand is soft. Although there are no beach-front activities, there is a boat ramp with an annual fee. There are no public facilities, but there is an array of dining at one of the island's restaurants. Sullivan's Island has no beach-front boardwalks, but there are several marked paths and walkways for beach access. There also are bike paths along the main roads. There is no municipal parking available, but limited parking is allowed on the side of the street. Dogs are permitted on the beach, but all pets must have a town license to be on the beach. Among the must-see places on the island are Fort Moultrie, which is filled with remnants and historical structures, and the Sullivan's Island Lighthouse. Access onto Sullivan's Island is available from the Ben Sawyer Bridge from Mount Pleasant, or by way of the Isle of Palms connector through the Isle of Palms. Dogs allowed: Pets aren't permitted on the beach from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. You must have a permit from the town to have a dog on the island.
