The worst place in Charleston. The service sucks, the food is nasty -you'll find better seafood at Captin D's and dog hairs every where.the place smells like a sewer plant. The owner Richard Cohen is allways drunk and will cuse you out for no reason and his staff are nasty looking and will rib you off.If you come by boat you better tip the guy on the deck or they will ban you and tell lies about you. So if you want a diease or smell S-it all night go to REDS ICE HOUSE on SHEM CREEK.

To cableguysc...
Ugh, why even bother acknowledging your comments about Red's Ice House, but your blithering missive was brought to my attention by the staff, and after severl excellent beverages served to me by whom I consider the friendliest, hardest working (after all, they've gotta deal with pukes like you...) and yes, at times prettiest buch of creekside characters you'll find this side of Key West, well... your comments dully warrent an intelligent rebuttal.
FYI, the gentleman who opened Red's, to whom you referred to as always being drunk there, although still the landlord of record, sold all ownership and management several years ago.... though I'm sure he still drinks... as do the literally tens of thousands of people a year who enjoy Red's Ice House enough to make it one of the most popular and successful waterfront establishments in the whole of South Cack-a-lack-ee.
Granted, if you're looking for white linen table cloths and an extensive wine list, go down town, in some old building with beaten down anal employees.
Your comment regarding "the place smells like a sewer plant" speak volumes of your ignorance as to what odiferous reminders Shem Crek pluff mud sends forth at low tide. Fact is, with the way DHEC, The Town of MP and OCRM directs Red's operating habits, bleach is the rule when it comes to smellng something there... with the frequent exception of a boats motor idiliig too long dockside... and there aren't too many places better to pull up to a dock than at Reds, where attentive attendants do their best to help you tie up and then depart with as little muss and fuss as possible. If you don't know enough to throw them a little gratuity (you stand out in that sun all day trying to keep a handle on the boat handling of putzes like you who don't even know what pluff mud smells like ((see above for a review)) well... then you obviously just don't belong.
Get over it, I'm sure there's some juice bar, chess club, circle jerk or Girl Scout troop who'd be willing to take you in.
I am, sincerely yours,
The Maniacal Boatnick.
P.S.: The staff all knows me there so feel free to ask and I'll be happy to re-introduce you to Red's Icehouse. I'll be sure and have them stock up on Grape Ne-Hi's...

great view, staff could use some improvement as far as greeting all cusomers, but a lot of them, and some are really cute. I think the "drunk owner" has been long gone.
