A two-game winning streak isn't exactly the stuff of legend, but Charleston Battery coach Mike Anhaeuser feels like he has his soccer team moving in the right direction after Friday night's 3-1 victory over Miami FC at Blackbaud Stadium. "Any time you get two wins in a row, you feel great," said Anhaeuser, whose team won for the first time this season last week and followed up with Friday night's victory. "We feel like we've got a little momentum now." Read story.

As the corner kick curled past the net and headed out of bounds, everybody in Blackbaud Stadium gave up on the ball. Everybody, that is, except for Kevin Nylen. With a superb effort, the Battery defender somehow saved the ball and flicked it back to the front of the net, from where .forward Randi Patterson headed in Charleston's first goal. Read story.
If Charleston midfielder Stephen Armstrong had his way, he would be in the Battery's starting lineup tonight against Rochester. The Battery's leading scorer from a year ago, Armstrong just finished playing a full season for the Chicago Storm in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The Battery takes on the Rochester Raging Rhinos tonight at 7:30 at Blackbaud Stadium. "If it was up to me, I'd start and play all 90 minutes," said Armstrong, who led the Battery with 10 goals and two assists in 2007. Read story.
The Battery played its home opener of the 2008 season on Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium in front of 4,324 fans and had the Sounders down 1-0 when the match went to extra time. Hugo Acaraz-Cuellar set up for a free kick near the midfield sideline and angled a ball across to the right side of the penalty box. A line of Battery defenders knocked the ball down, but it cleared in front of Kenji Treschuk, who drilled a low drive past keeper Dusty Hudock's dive and just inside the left post. Read story.
