Summer reading Readers had some interesting takes on Tuesday's column about beach books. "Tell whoever is reading 'When You Are Engulfed in Flames' to SKIP pages 236-240," Christine Bosworth wrote. "They are really, really yucky! The next few chapters aren't that great, either. Other than that, the book is really good.

Beach books Pluffmudders have plenty of excuses to read. They join book clubs ... both virtual and living room. They swap books, borrow books, buy books and join chat rooms to see what friends are reading.

Friday mashup GMLc's killer app is the use of curiosity and news judgment to roam around in other news pages and sites, picking up and distilling unusual items of interest. That sounds lofty. June brides Pity the poor girl getting married this month in the Lowcountry. It doesn't matter that she is wearing white, sun-reflecting clothing. This June is July-hot. The favorite view of the Lowcountry for this pluffmudder is the view from the water. It doesn't matter if it's a long shot from seaward, or the marsh-tops green, pillowtop cloud white and rare blue of the creek from your vantage point in a small boat, or just the sweeping panorama of a lonely beach and maritime forest from your eyes swimming just above the waves out in the surf.

Now, now. Here's a kerchief. Do pat on that glistening along your cheek. Have a seat here in the piazza shade, up on this rejuvenating little bouncy joggling board. A cool, mint drink, perhaps? Rather humid this morning, isn't it? You seem a might peaked.
