Driver surrenders after fatal accident

Sunday, May 18, 2008

A driver wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on James Island surrendered to sheriff's deputies Saturday and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

William Witherspoon, 32, of Berryhill Road on Johns Island, is scheduled to have a bond hearing this morning, Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. John Clark said.

Donna Wright, 47, of James Island, was killed in the 9:40 p.m. accident Friday, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kelly Myers said. Wright was riding a bicycle and was crossing the road near Avenue A when she was hit by a pickup truck, Clark said.

Bars contribute to drunk driving deaths. Shut down the bars, and you end up with a huge reduction in alcohol related deaths and injuries.

leaving a crime is not tough enough, that's why they still leave a scene because they dont care... I was hit in a car accident five yrs. ago and can't get good help and I still have major pains and can't walk right and the person that hit me got a away with a slap on the wrist this system is not working and his bond from leaving the scene wasnt even fair....he hit a person not a deer.....

What can you sue them for if they have nothing?
