What a nut case. Why haven't those Ravenels dope circle been indicted. Oh that's right ... they are big name lawyers and land developers and politicians. Some even live south of Broad Street and have offices on Broad itself. Imagine that!

What a tool. Election results show he didn't even win Charleston County.

He was NOT a drug addict??????????? Another one that lies and lies and lies. All I can say to you Thomas Ravenel is: I am one that doesn't buy that crap, and you will never get my vote again, even if you run for Dog Catcher!!

Being A Republican he would WIN again in SC.

I am amazed that Ravenel passes judgment on the morals of others in his drug circle. At one time he states that he refused to do coke with two girls because they were too young and then states that he may have "made a move on her". He also states that he quit going to one of the bars where he used to get his cocaine because it was turning into a bad place (and when did that happen, Thomas?). It is common on these boards to refer to drug abusers and dealers as "dirt bags". He belongs in that category as well.

Hell, he'll probably get elected mayor. Rep. Clyburn just added to his staff a man convicted last year for soliciting bribes. I guess he figured he might as well have somebody with experience

Jeez, he squeals and rats like a little girl!

He should man up, take his medicine, and not try to pull all these other people down with him.

Pathetic, a disgrace to his father and The Citadel.

If you are a convicted felon, as Ravenel is ... .. .

Why can't convicted felons be lawyers in SC?

Hey where can I get a copy of that report with the names not blacked out? I want to put it on my blog.

He has to still be a stoner to think anyone would vote for him again.

Posted by onevoice on May 17, 2008 at 1:07 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well if he should get elected again we will all know he's crooked, a liar and a criminal up front. He'll probably get elelcted with all the drug cartel money at his disposal.

He will never see the day he gets my vote.

He has to be "a nut case" to really believe he could get elected to anything ever. Of course the infamous Annette Young was drunk coming out of Oscars in Summerville, ran into a tree and has been reelected every time thereafter. So maybe people just don't care. Heck, Senator Scott from Summerville, was picked up on a dui few weeks ago, threatened several deputies with their jobs, was extremely profane in recorded phone calls to his wife demanding that she get a judge to release him in the middle of the night, and heck he'll probably get reelected too. Go figure!

Yeah, sure. Good luck with that, buddy.

When will the state government put into legislation a law that forbids anyone with a felony crime from ever being able to pursue a job as a public official?

This would stop him and most of the other members from being able to run for office ...

I believe that only felons should hold office in South Carolina. They will have the experience it takes to understand what is really going on.

Let's try that for 100 years. The last 200 haven't proven anything.

Did I hear you snorting something? I have a new computer.

Posted by wonderdog on May 17, 2008 at 5:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm not sure what kind of entrapment you think may have taken place - no one made him snort cocaine. He appears to think that he is morally superior to those with whom he did coke.....bad case of denial. He will still be a millionaire when he gets out of prison (if not his money, then his family's), so he really won't have to worry about getting a job anyway.

Posted by stand828 on May 17, 2008 at 7:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Screw the second chance bulls**t.

Ravenel is a millionaire who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth (or nose, as the case may be), and should have known better. He'll get through this just fine and go back to his downtown mansion and the privileged lifestyle that he takes for granted.

This will all be forgotten in a few years, but voters shouldn't forget. Of course, stick an (R) after his name and the right-wingers will vote for him again, as they would for Satan himself before they would vote for a Democrat. Give me some hardworking, law-abiding honest Joe from a trailer park who has had to struggle to feed his family as my State Treasurer anytime.

Oh, and this is a perfect example of the different set of rules those in the corrupt "good ol' boy" system have. How else could Thomas' old coot of a daddy, the allegedly respectable and much beloved hick "Cousin Arthur," learn about this secret investigation and warn his son about it? Take his f**king name off of that bridge.

Posted by melissa672 on May 17, 2008 at 10:29 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Please tell me that it is not true that a convicted felon can run for a public office...

Posted by melissa672 on May 17, 2008 at 10:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

They named the Ravenel Bridge after Arthur--the little white lines in the middle...well, those are named after his son.

Posted by TheCat_inTheHat on May 18, 2008 at 12:07 a.m. (Suggest removal)

that joke is sooo old. Wasn't funny then, is'nt funny now. Since WHEN has part of a bridge been named after anybody before.
