Man charged with abusing children

Friday, May 16, 2008

Eddie Francisco Torres

The Post and Courier

Eddie Francisco Torres

A man has been charged with severely abusing two young children, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.

Eddie Francisco Torres, 20, was arrested Tuesday on charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and inflicting bodily injury to a child, a release says. He remained at the Dorchester County jail Thursday on $1 million bail.

The children's grandmother contacted deputies from the parking lot of the Knightsville Piggly Wiggly supermarket around 8 p.m. Saturday, the release says. Suspecting abuse, deputies had the children taken into emergency custody.

Deputies said their investigation and medical exams led them to think the injuries to the children stemmed from Torres stepping on the children's genital areas.

I agree Harpo.

I've got a size 9 foot that would love to have a one-on-one with his genitals.

I agree CB and Harpo, if the the charges are proven, but the guy up where he never gets out.

I agree with Harpo! He won't last long in jail if they know what he is there for!Lets get him there with a quickness and look the other way when the inmates have their way with this SOB! Those poor kids are probably going to be scarred for life...

Posted by CountryGirl on May 16, 2008 at 10 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I wish P&C wouldn't report stuff like this until they have more information...we probably won't ever hear about this one again. I would like to know what really happened and whether this guy was the legal guardian. I agree with the posts though...he needs to go. Anyone who hurts a child in this manner is sick...drugs or no drugs....tired or frustrated....no excuse for this type of abuse.

Posted by outrage on May 16, 2008 at 10:02 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I am a size 12EEE, let me know if you need me!

Posted by highclass on May 16, 2008 at 10:23 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Send him to prision and let all of the other inmates know what he is in for. Save the tax payers the expense of a death sentence let the killers behind the walls do what they do best.

Posted by abitskeptical on May 16, 2008 at 10:29 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I am a regular poster who has questioned the necessity for jail time in SOME cases.

This guy, however, needs REAL long jail time. Don't know if he deserves the death penalty..I go back & forth on that, but he should get life in prison for this.

Posted by ohappyday on May 16, 2008 at 10:38 a.m. (Suggest removal)

If found guilty, the death penalty should be the punishment and kill him the same day of his conviction. The time and money that we spend on convicts is ridiculous. Everyone who physically abuses a person or animal should meet with the same fate.

Posted by prosperous_hb on May 16, 2008 at 10:40 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm not one to harsh things, but they need to put his butt in a 425 degree frying pan and let him sit there for a while. When he's finished there, let Big Bubba have him, if anything is left.

What the heck is wrong with him abusing little kids like that? Sick, just flat out sick.

Posted by CHRISJIII on May 16, 2008 at 10:55 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Wait to see what comes out of this before passing judgement. This article leaves too much information out.

Posted by eyfigueroa on May 16, 2008 at 11:22 a.m. (Suggest removal)

jca: "legal or not kick his butt out he looks like a nuisance"

Are you referring to his parental/guardianship status or his immigration status?

I wonder if his name was Mike O'Leary that that question would even come up.

¡Usted es tan estúpido!

The thing I hate the most is a grown up abusing a child. Please make sure this fool get his time in jail. He can see what it is to be abuse by someone bigger then him.

And I would love to add my size 10 1/2 wide with those kicks.

Posted by jkjb3 on May 16, 2008 at 11:49 a.m. (Suggest removal)

ChrisJIII - $1 million dollar bail??? Come on - obviously they know something that we don't need to know or even want to know already!

Posted by megaward on May 16, 2008 at 12:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

If 'big bubba' isn't available for this poopstain, my 16 6e foot can substitute

Posted by Xnavykat on May 16, 2008 at 12:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I just hope the children are young enough that they won't remember what happened to them. Otherwise, they will suffer from any number of mental conditions thanks to this dirtbag.

Posted by jca on May 16, 2008 at 12:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

age not race. he doesnt look but barely 18 read earlier post. his legal as in immigration or not never crossed my mind

million dollar bail are you serious i agree jk theres more they arent telling

Posted by ForPnC on May 16, 2008 at 12:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Damn y'all got some big feet! LOL!

I have small feet but a helluva baseball bat and a powerful swing. Can I use that instead? We'll start a line. Two guys hold him down spread-eagle and we'll swing the bat like a golf club.

I agree - with a bail like that, there's something more.

Posted by eyfigueroa on May 16, 2008 at 12:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm not a huge proponent of the death penalty. However, letting him stay in general population with a "I abuse little children" sign tape to his back will keep him from seeing his 21st birthday.

I'm so hoping that this is some type of mistake, for the childrens sake.

jca: Perdóneme

Posted by jkjb3 on May 16, 2008 at 12:47 p.m. (Suggest removal)

the more I think about it, a million dollar bail - there are MANY MANY murder suspects who don't even get that... This dude really frigged those babies up! It makes me want to throw up. And as far as how young they are and them remembering - somewhere deep inside them, something happened to them that they will NEVER forget, nomatter how old. And, don't forget - the media. It never lets you forget a thing!

Posted by GG on May 16, 2008 at 12:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Let's all volunteer to stomp his crotch!

Posted by ChrisPia on May 16, 2008 at 1:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sickening. If not the Death Penalty then NEVER let him Out of Jail Again. It should have been NO Bail.

Posted by Marianne0558 on May 16, 2008 at 1:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

In my opinion, inmates should have to wear jumpsuits with their crime stitched on them. That way, everyone knows what each other is in for.

Stepping on the children's genitals?? That sounds like a very sexual crime, maybe he is a pedophile as well.

I wonder if these were his own children? Probably.

At 20 years old and stepping on children's genitals, I would think this criminal had some abuse occur to him in the past...

This is sad.

Posted by ashleyriver on May 16, 2008 at 1:47 p.m. (Suggest removal)

People that abuse children and torture animals have a special place reserved for them in hell. I hope all them suffer great pain and humiliation for a long, long period of time.

Posted by blah_blah_blah on May 16, 2008 at 2:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

we'll put a boot up your *ss, its the American way!
this guy is toast!

Posted by Two_Sheds on May 16, 2008 at 2:15 p.m. (Suggest removal)

We should give his fellow inmates some SPIKED GOLF SHOES and tell them to stomp HIM in the crotch--as often as necessary! That'll learn him!

Cops have got to have good self control. Reason #349 that I could not be a cop: I would blow away guys like this.

This is why so many women are in prison today...for killing men like this...where was the mother of these children when this happened? Why was the grandmother the one who turned him in and not her? Sick ***!! I agree he wont stand a chance in prison. I bet it comes out that he has a past record of animal abuse too~!

Posted by kris86 on May 16, 2008 at 4:56 p.m. (Suggest removal)

From what my sister was telling me (she works with the mother of the kids), he is not the legal guardian of those kids! They aren't even his! This is just crazy, and the boy needs to get what he deserves!

Posted by bkc6 on May 16, 2008 at 6:50 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree with Harpo but before he goes to jail give me 10 minutes with the bast...

Posted by luvmydogs59 on May 16, 2008 at 11:48 p.m. (Suggest removal)

This dirtbag won't last more than 10 minutes in jail when the other inmates find out what he's done...and that would be a good thing...one less inmate to have to pay for.

I've got size 10 feet (yeah, my feetsies ain't too feminine LOL) and a 9mm...I think I could put both to good use on this sorry excuse for a human being.

for those who are leaving silly comments i understand but one thing ill tell you is that i know this kid for years and he is 19 he is a loving person he would never hurt a fly there for a child the person who did this accusations is the childrens fathers mom now you figure it out why shes being like that she should be thankful that someone is taking care of them not like her son at least eddie steped up and took care of them and remember he is only 19 to take this responsabilty and he has done nothing but take care of them and love them as if they where his own (HE DID NOT DO IT)he a good hearted person.....

Would somebody be so kind as to translate this for me?

Posted by ForPnC on May 17, 2008 at 3:29 a.m. (Suggest removal)

BKLYNIRISH - I'll kindly translate!

The poster is full of crap! There's always a defender who "knows" the person to say "they're not like this."

Guess what? They are now!

Posted by kim456 on May 17, 2008 at 10:11 a.m. (Suggest removal)

BKLYNIRISH its very simple what the "defender"wrote she must know him very well and i think we shouldnt be passing judgment on just because what the media said there are must of the time wrong anyway and he does not look like someone who would do it anyway but we'll see right.....

Posted by chaslivin on May 17, 2008 at 10:19 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Trusted source, he did what they say he did. He is not their dad, but had the role of step dad. And I agree, he deserves to spend the rest of his life locked up.

The face of a little punk who abuse young kids..Hope get whatever is coming to him good. Bastard

Posted by walleyedwoman1215 on May 17, 2008 at 4:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I'm not defending the suspect by any means, but any cop experienced in sex offenses would tell you what he did to those children was very likely done to him. Sexual abuse is often multi-generational. Those poor kids... I hope they can break the cycle.

Posted by bkc6 on May 17, 2008 at 8:50 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Give me that son of a bitch for 10 minutes and I promise his cycle will be broken.

Posted by bkc6 on May 18, 2008 at 4:47 p.m. (Suggest removal)

to ny4life - we're ignorant? You have to be crazy as hell to take up for this punk. He better be glad it wasn't my child. So go back to hell where you came from.

Posted by concerned_observer on May 19, 2008 at 3 p.m. (Suggest removal)

As a concerned observer, I would simply like to present a few questions for thought to the general public:

1. What about "innocent until proven guilty"?
2. Where was the mother when all of this happened?
3. Did Eddie wake up one morning and "become" a child abuser? Or, was this an on-going thing that the mother consciously turned a blind-eye to???
4. Why hasn't the mothers opinion been released in regards to this story? Does she have nothing to say? Does she agree with the grandmother? DOES SHE EVEN CARE??? In fact, maybe Eddie could be taking the blame for something that SHE did! If she turned a blind-eye to this abuse, she is just as guilty as he is and that is something that NEEDS to be further investigated.

In closing, this is a very emotionnally charged crime. It is very easy to get caught up in the disgusting "facts" that the media is feeding us. And, if this happened to someone in my family, I would want the worst to happen to the alleged abuser as well. However, this has not happened to anyone in my family (or anyone in yours, I assume), so I suggest that we all stop trying to lay judgments where they are not due. Eddie is only 19-years old and as many have stated before, there is a lot that is left out of this case/what the media is telling us. If he is guilty, he commited a disgraceful crime, however, the extent to which people have expressed the desire to inflict the same crime on him is also very disturbing. If it was not right for him to do it, it is not right for us to want to do it either. This is a serious case, there are children and families involved, and for the best of everyone involved, I hope that the case can be resolved in the best interest of the children and the families.
