Where to find the 'Necter' on James Island

Necter Bar & Grill

Jack Hunter

Necter Bar & Grill

Necter Bar & Grille on James Island is divided into two sections - "bar" and "grille."

While the same great food is available in both sections, my friends and I tend to stay on the bar side of Necter. It's a fun place to be.

The outside patio at Necter features a tiki bar, complete with a grass hut style awning, wicker bar stools and a dozen tables, all featuring umbrellas. While the outside patio is ideal for enjoying a cold drink on a hot summer day, the inside offers something a little different.

The indoor bar area features 10 TVs, the ever-popular Silver Strike Bowling video game and all the amenities one might expect from their favorite watering hole. But attached to the bar is a spacious area known as the "Necter Room" which can be rented out for private parties (a wedding reception was being held on the night of my visit) but also serves as a concert area for live music on Friday and Saturday nights. My favorite feature is the Necter Room's "garage door" (for lack of a better term) that is opened or closed depending on the weather. When the weather is nice, customers can enjoy the outdoors while basically remaining indoors.

Necter offers more than 15 domestic beers and numerous imports on tap as well as more than 30 domestic and import bottles. There is a good selection of wine, particularly by the glass, as well house specialties like a martini called the "Hangover Cure" and a cocktail interestingly called the "Peargasm."

A perfect fit for James Island, Necter Bar & Grille offers a slightly more upscale bar experience and will no doubt be a sweet find for those who've yet to enjoy it.
