437th Airlift Wing receives honor
Thursday, May 15, 2008
The Air Force has selected the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston Air Force Base as the winner of the 2008 Verne Orr Award.
The Air Force Association established this award in honor of former Secretary of the Air Force Verne Orr. The award recognizes an Air Force unit (active or Reserve) that makes the most effective use of its human resources.
The wing delivered more than 213 million pounds of cargo and 24,000 passengers and executed more than 19,000 missions, 23 percent more than any other wing, with an Air Mobility Command-best reliability rate of 96 percent.
The Air Force Association will present the award during its Air & Space Conference and Technology Exposition 2008 in September in Washington.

First off, thank you to the Men And Women of the 437th, you are obvisouly the "best of the best" at what you do.
Secondly our country owes you a debt of gratitude for what you do, all I can say is thank you!
Now for all of the idiots that are more concerned with the CFD chief retiring, you should be ashamed of yourselfs for posting there and not coming onto this thread and taking one minute to thank the 437th for their accomplishment. Without them, and the rest of the military you might not have the oppertunity to do so.
Also, I am suprised that chrispia did not take the chance to bash Nash in his comment, maybe the medicine is working!!!!

To All the Men and Woman of The 437th. Thank You for your Excellent Service.Keep up the Great workand Be safe.
Creeker...Good One.It's Called Respect for The Charleston Nine .We All Know Ray Nash is Incompetant Manager when he is there. Luckily someone stood up and corrected Safety Conditions Before a Tradegy happened.I Know You will blame Council with not providing enough money But it's what happens to the money when you get it....and how you spend it that matters for the safety of your personell.Which should have been a priority. Not Character training to line his pockets and others on the taxpayers dime.

Rusty Thomas Knew that his actions were having a Negative impact on his men..Although it took time for him to realize this ,He is doing the Honorable thing for his Department and Employees.I respect him for doing this.
In Ray Nash's Case He Just wants his pension. It is true that a Vast majority of the Community has lost trust in him and the DCSO..The community is tired of lies and spin and mismanagement. His only Motivation to remain is For His own personal Interests.
It Is going to Take a Long Time Building that trust back.I think L.C. Knight can accomplish this with his Honesty, integrity and repour with All the residents of Dorchester County. Not Just a select few..LC KNIGHT For Sheriff 2008
