In this port city, bringing its commerce and global trade, how about some fair trade? Saturday is World Fair Trade Day, when supporters around the globe hold events to promote the work of craftsmen and producers in "minority worlds." Global Awakening, a store at 499 King St. that helps provide a living for traders around the world, is hosting a Charleston event from noon to 5 p.m. Like-minded stores market the handicrafts of Third World craftsmen, helping them to pay for food, education, health care and housing. A core component of the fair trade movement is eradicating child labor, said Maren Anderson, owner of Global Awakening. "The children are able to start school and they're not under a tree weaving baskets," she said. Read more in tomorrow's editions of The Post and Courier.
