COLUMBIA — House members delayed taking action on amendments to a $7 billion state budget that would restore money to college research and tourism programs. Extended debate on an immigration bill and a mix-up in the 180-page amendment's drafting left House members saying Wednesday they wanted more time to review changes to the Senate version of the spending plan. House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dan Cooper told members the biggest changes included restoring $10 million for research programs and $10 million for tourism promotion the Senate dropped as it cut $180 million from the budget last month. The House is expected to resume amendment discussions today.
