Chirles named to Children's Museum post

Thursday, May 8, 2008

The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry has announced the hiring of Denis Chirles as its new deputy director. Chirles brings more than five years of nonprofit and fundraising experience in Charleston and will play a major role in the museum's upcoming expansion project.

"We are very excited about Denis coming on board," noted the museum's Executive Director Georgina Ngozi. "He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and professionalism that will help lead us into our next phase of growth."

Before joining the museum, Chirles was the deputy campaign manager for Charleston Mayor Joe Riley's successful re-election campaign in the fall. His nonprofit experience began at the Charleston Stage Company where he was the Director of Marketing and Development.

"I am very excited about this wonderful opportunity and look forward to helping a great Charleston institution continue to grow as we work towards expansion in the coming year," notes Chirles. "I am honored to be a part of an impressive group of community and business leaders that make up our board of directors, advisory committees and the museum staff and am hopeful that I can compliment this already distinguished group."

Chirles can be reached at The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry, downtown Charleston.
