More local produce should be showing up this month at the area's farmers markets. Vegetables and fruits typically in season in the Lowcountry during May are: Asparagus, pole and snap beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, radishes, collards, kale, mustard greens, cucumbers, salad greens, spinach, green onions, peaches, white potatoes, summer squash, strawberries, turnips and turnip greens. -- Teresa Taylor |
