Millennium Music delays closing date

Millennium Music will close its store at King and Calhoun streets. The local firm will focus on its online music business.

No doubt in hopes of cashing in on the Spoleto Festival USA-goers who will begin flooding Charleston's streets later this month, Millennium Music has extended its closing date.

The music retailer on the corner of King and Calhoun streets initially was scheduled to sell its last CD today, but the independent store has announced that it will remain open until June 9.

Spoleto runs from May 23 to June 8.

Millennium will host a farewell party and moving sale on June 7. The day will feature several bands, including classical and jazz performers, for afternoon and evening concerts, as well as free food and beverages, discounted inventory, furniture, displays, computers and equipment from the store.

The push to a June closing also will give the store a bit more time to prepare its new space, a warehouse in Mount Pleasant that will house FeedYourPlayer.com.

FeedYourPlayer.com, an online music service store, launched in January 2006 as the global revitalization of Millennium Music.

-- Cupcake: Owner Kristin Kulke has opened her second tasty treat shop at 644-D Long Point Road in the Belle Hall Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant. The first location is at 433 King St. on the peninsula.

-- Glasspro Pit Stop Quick Lube & Car Wash: Glasspro Inc. and Carolina Car Care have joined forces to launch a new auto service center, featuring quick lube service, car wash packages and detailing, and Glasspro's 20-minute auto glass repair. The facility is at 1800 S.C. Highway 17 North in Mount Pleasant, across from Mount Pleasant Towne Centre.

-- Jen Snyder Design Fine Art & Photography: The gallery at 1050-B East Montague Ave., off Park Circle in North Charleston, features Snyder's modern/abstract style and free-flow photography technique. It opens Wednesday, coinciding with the North Charleston Annual Art Walk, with a free grand opening party from 4-9 p.m.

-- Ladles Soups: Owner Suzie Allen has opened her second fresh soup restaurant at Freshfields Village near Kiawah and Seabrook islands. The first location is at 3124 Bees Ferry Road, and a third location is scheduled to open in Mount Pleasant by the end of the year.

-- O'Hara & Flynn: The wine and cheese merchant has moved from 160 East Bay St., opening its new location at 225 Meeting St. today.
