I heard this story on the news this morning and it just disgusts me that a woman, a mother no less, would put her child in harms way like that. I don't have any children, but if someone did that to my god kids I would be ready for a fight. I pray that the young man makes a speedy recovery so that he can continue to be a father to this child.

How can you tell from the report whether the mother's actions were justified or not? There must be more here than meets the eye! I am not suggesting that I know enough to say whether the police charges are appropriate or not.

Is it possible that she was protecting her child? Is it possible that the "victim" was an assailant? Is it possible that there is some fact relevant to these questions not yet made public?

Why make critical snap-judgment comments before you know the facts? It may turn out that the mother's actions were criminal. We just don't know that, unless the two posters above have more information than has been made public.

My first thought was that maybe it was self defense for some reason, too, but then she wouldn't be in jail with those charges against her. But perhaps he did something wrong to cause the crash, and thats why she didnt get attempted murder. Very interesting, but knowing the PnC, we'll prob not get the whole story for a year or so!

I must have missed something. No where does it say that the man was the child's father. Hell, this could have been a carjacking for all we know. I doubt that it was since the mom was arrested, but something is not adding up here. The rest of the story is needed before any intelligent opinions can be formed.

My best guess at this point, and I emphasis guess, is that this was a domestic quarrel that got out of hand. A gun was pulled by a scorned woman, causing the wreck and she still decided to shoot afterwards. Thats's just a GUESS though.

Volsfan, how is this poor reporting by the P&C? All I see listed here are facts of what happened...not even a hint of conjecture. The one fact that I would like to see listed is who was driving the car, but outside of that, I see nothing in the actual article to suggest that anyone at the P&C is reporting poorly on this story.

OK early where does it state the race of either adult unless her pic was on the news this morning. If so I missed it so my bad if her pic was not on the news then why bring race into it! I agree with other posts, who says she was not protecting the life of her child and her life. If that is not the case then yes what in the hell was she thinking endangering her child. If she was protecting her life and her childs life then KUDOS to her, if she knowingly and willingly put her childs life in harms way then throw the book at her, the 3 charges carry up to 20 years if she is guilty, if it was NOT self defense and protection of her child.

If I'm not mistaken, the news stated last night that this guy was her ex-boyfriend. It sounds like some type of argument broke out, the car crashed and this young lady protected herself. She may have shot him with his own gun. It will be interesting to see how all this turns out.

What is most important is the the little 2 yr old is safe.

Thank God the 2 yr old is safe! I would have to agree that race has absolutely nothing to do with having a gun pointed at you. I am going to save judgement on the female until I know more. My wife and I go through this type of incident every night. She asks what I want for dinner. I remind her that, before we got married, I told her that deciding what we were doing for dinner was her job. She gets mad. We argue. We get in the car. She shoots me. I go to the hospital. I go home and we start all over again the next evening. She also shoots me when I complain about her 4 billion recorded episodes of the "guiding light of our days of our lives when we were young and restless", or whatever the hell it's called, on the DVR. It takes me 30 minutes to scroll through all of the soaps to find my one recording of TVs best show, Reno 911. Sometimes she shoots me 'cause I leave the seat up. Once she shot me 'cause she asked if she was getting fat and I thought it would be cute to imitate that guy on TV that says "You betcha!". Turns out that wasn't as cute as I thought it would be. I get shot... I get better... alls fair in love and war :)

Um... no babies involved in our shootings, let me clarify that .

I guess I'd better also clarify, in case she reads this, that my wife isn't fat. She asked me once if I would still love her if she got fat. I told her I would love parts of her every once in a while :)

For women, it really doesn't matter what race your name is most popular with as long as your name starts with an "S". I love "S" women... Sabrina... Samantha... Shannon... Shandi... Sarah... I could go on and on... "S" women are always sooooo hot!

This is not the time for joking about the race of suspect, or the incident in general. Nothing funny about this, and racial jokes may be funny to some people, but cause me to be outraged when I hear them. What does the race of the suspect have to do with what happened? Bottom line is we have a young man in the hospital, a young woman who shot someone for reasons we don't know yet, and worst of all, a small child who is no doubt horrified. Three lives changed.

I agree, and just supposed the were in the right lane and veered across two lanes with gunshots flying, OMG could have been a bloody scene on 26, I don't think this woman would leave home with the intention of shooting him with baby in tow, that is just not the thinking of a mother. He may have had the gun and she took it from him while driving, he may have had her at gunpoint, All kinds of speculations until he tells his side. Sounds weird to me, why wasn't he driving?
