Chef John Ondo’s sauteed flounder served with fresh vegetables.
Three continents, 20 countries and some of the finest food you will ever taste. Luckily for us, the Lowcountry provides opportunity to enjoy the flavors of France, Greece, Italy, Spain and just this year, Morocco.
Lana Restaurant and Bar210 Rutledge Ave., downtown 720-8899 www.lanarestaurant.com $$-$$$ Lana is the Siren of Rutledge Avenue, calling to you in Italian, Spanish, Greek, Moroccan and French. Owner Drazen Romic and partner-chef John Ondo have put together a Med-haven menu of quality, variety and refinement. The liquid gold of its olive oil portends the culinary pleasures ahead. Opt for a bright start with Avgolemono soup; dip into hummus, baba ghanoush and tapenade; and enjoy the Village Salad, which is served in traditional Greek manner — no lettuce and accompanied by crisp, grilled flat bread. Try the Basque chicken, Moroccan lamb shank, any of the pastas and daily risotto. A sure hand in the kitchen and accomplished wait staff in the front of the house hit all the right notes for a culinary journey through the Mediterranean.
