COLUMBIA — Reese Havens had four RBIs on two hits to lead South Carolina over Duquesne. The Gamecocks (7-2) batted around in a six-run second inning. Havens drove in the first two runs on a double with bases loaded. Harley Lail drove in two runs on his second hit in the inning. The three South Carolina pitchers each struck out five batters and held Duquesne (0-9) to four hits. South Carolina added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth when DeAngelo Mack led off with a solo home run to left field. Havens drove in the other two runs on a single. Time—3:00. Att—4,133. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Allan Dykstra homered twice, and four Wake Forest pitchers collected 15 strikeouts in a victory over Clemson in the ACC opener for both teams. Dykstra hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Demon Deacons (6-4) a 3-0 lead. He added a solo shot in the sixth as part of a 4-for-4 day, and Evan Ocheltree had a three-run homer in the inning as part of a five-run rally that gave Wake Forest a 13-7 lead. Clemson scored four times in the seventh, highlighted by Matt Sanders' two-run single and a run-scoring single by Stan Widmann. With one out in the top of the eighth, the game was halted for 76 minutes by rain. When the game resumed, Wake Forest reliever Alex Wiesner issued a walk and then struck out Chris Epps for the second out. Closer Brad Kledzik came in and struck out pinch-hitter John Nester to end the inning, then struck out the side in the ninth to earn his first save of the season. E—Sanders, Dykstra, Hood. Junior pitcher Andrew White gave up just four hits and Charleston Southern scored its most runs this season in a victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore (0-10) at Buccaneer Field. The Buccaneers (3-7) and were led by freshman Derek Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one walk and three RBIs. White went 7 2/3 innings, carrying a perfect game through the first four innings. He had seven strikeouts and allowed three walks while giving up only one run for his second win of the season. He retired 24 of the 28 batters he faced. Seven different players scored for the Bulldogs, while five collected multiple hits. The Citadel scored 13 runs on 14 hits off five Purple Aces pitchers. MOUNT PLEASANT — Michael Harrington had a school-record eight RBIs as the College of Charleston (9-3) rallied to earn a split in its doubleheader against Texas-San Antonio (9-3) at Patriots Point. The third game of the series is set for today at noon. In game two, Harrington's grand slam in the bottom of the second helped Charleston grab a 7-2 lead. Later, Harrington added a three-run shot in the bottom of the sixth to give the Cougars a 12-10 lead.
