Cast heads to Walter Reed

The Post and Courier
Saturday, June 28, 2008

"Army Wives" hits the road next week, visiting the nation's capital to honor America's servicemen and women.

Cast members, actual U.S. Army wives and other guests will walk the red carpet Tuesday to join military staff and wounded service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for an advance screening of an "Army Wives" episode.

The Lifetime Television program is filmed in Charleston and is the highest-rated original drama in the network's 24-year history.

Those attending include Sally Pressman, who plays the show's irrepressible Roxy LeBlanc; Brigid Brannagh, who stars as Pamela Moran; and Tanya Biank, author of the book "Army Wives" that inspired the show.

Bob Woodruff, the former ABC news anchor who was injured in Iraq, will attend with his wife, Lee. The two are advocates for injured soldiers, together penning the memoir "In an Instant."

Senior military representatives and their families, and members of the USO and other military aid organizations also will be present.

The episode to be screened focuses on Roxy's husband, Trevor, who returns home from Iraq as a hero, but is conflicted over the praise.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center provides health care for more than 150,000 active and retired military personnel and family members.
