RB Axon commits to Clemson

Staff report
Wednesday, June 25, 2008

Clemson received a commitment from running back Ben Axon (6-2, 195) of Bradenton, Fla., on Tuesday.

Axon, who rushed for 1,026 yards and 16 touchdowns and caught 38 passes last season, said the coaches had fully informed him of the running back situation at Clemson, and he understands what kind of opportunity he has.

"From what they tell me, James Davis and CJ Spiller are going to the draft," Axon said. "Even if Spiller decides to come back and stay for a year, there's no pressure. I'm ready to sit back and learn from somebody that has experience in the ACC."

Axon said once he gets his chance to carry the football at Clemson, fans will like what they see.

"The style of offense, the I-formation, is what we run back at my school," Axon said. "I think that's the style of offense where I can get the fall 20 times, maybe 30 times a go. I'm a fourth quarter guy. That's the most important thing for me, getting the ball in the fourth quarter. I believe that's what I can bring to the Clemson Tigers."

Among the other offers for Axon are USC, Florida State, South Florida and West Virginia. He is Clemson's 10th commitment for the 2009 class.

Clemson will get you a girlfriend you can beat on. That's part of being a tiger. Going to church and punching girlfriends in the face.

How soon redneck yell forgets about all the thugs up their at that joke of a school . Dont worry about your daddy ,Tommy will take care of this unlike what the old ball sack has done with Garcia and all the other thugs .

Yep Tommy will take care of it alright. He will wait until the end of the season though. He needs that guy to play this season.

youmanyo- check me if I am wrong but did Garcia terrorize a girl? Funny you throw Gasrcia under the bus for drinking but your boy Tommy completely overlooks a DUI charge because he needed the kid to play in the bowl game. Even you have to admit that underage drinking and hitting girls is not even closely related. If you can't I feel sorry for you. Your parents must be proud.

I hope our player gets kicked off the team , he has brought shame to my school, and if we had a idiot like Garcia on our team I would like to see him kicked also , not for under age drinking ,but for all the things he has done to bring shame to your school .

And if you remember the whole Garcia thing is totally out of the hands of Spurrier. Its up to the University. Once again selective memory must be a wonderful thing.

So youre saying the old ball sack has enough class to do the right thing but your loser university is so desperate they wont do the right thing .
