'Select Your Seat' at open house

The Post and Courier
Sunday, June 22, 2008

A "Select Your Seat" open house will be held at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center, so current and prospective subscribers to the "Best of Broadway" series can choose their seats for the 2008-09 season.

"It's hard to believe that the performing arts center and our 'Best of Broadway' series are both entering their 10th year," says Dave Holscher, general manager of the North Charleston center. "To celebrate, we have the 'Best of Broadway' shows ranging from the classics to the newest award-winning musicals, plus two special events."

Fresh from the silver screen and a Broadway revival is "Sweeney Todd" on Oct. 10-11. Back by popular demand is "Annie" on Dec. 10-11, and "Tarzan," based on the Disney animated film, will be performed Jan. 9-10.

Direct from Broadway are Tony-nominated "The Drowsy Chaperone" on Jan. 27-28; "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," Feb. 24-25; and Tony winner "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," March 24-25.

"Best of Broadway" season ticketholders will be entitled to free parking all season and to other benefits related to events at the coliseum and the center.

The "Best of Broadway" series is presented by the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and the Nederlander Producing Company of America.

Special events that are not included in the Broadway package are "A Christmas Carol" by the Nebraska Theatre Caravan on Dec. 20 and an appearance by Lily Tomlin, stand-up comedian and star of film and stage, on Feb. 12.

The "Select Your Seat" open house will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday and will include complimentary hors d'oeuvres, a wine-tasting, Broadway music and backstage tours.

Season ticket plans for four, five or six shows are available. For further ticket information, call 202-2787 or go to www.coliseumpac.com.
