Clemson — Clemson shortstop Stan Widmann is expected to return for a final season with the Tigers' baseball team. According to a source close to Widmann, he has decided to remain at Clemson for his final season of eligibility. Widmann was not selected in the recent Major League Baseball draft, but the Hurst, Texas, native was entertaining the idea of signing as a free agent. Widmann earned a redshirt year in 2007, when he missed all but six games with a benign tumor in his neck. Clemson's coaches are still awaiting word on whether pitchers D.J. Mitchell and Ryan Hinson will return to school for their senior seasons. Both were selected in the MLB draft. Pitcher Scott Weismann, a recruit from Massachusetts, is deciding whether to go to Clemson or turn pro.
