Bauer says he'd put up money for tags

Friday, June 13, 2008

COLUMBIA — Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer said Thursday he is willing to put up $4,000 of his own money so South Carolina can become the first state to issue 'I Believe' license plates.

Gov. Mark Sanford allowed the license plate bill to become law without his signature, noting the state already has a process to allow special plates for any cause as long as enough people come together and put up the money needed to buy them. Bauer said he is willing to put up the money, then get reimbursed. The state must collect a $4,000 deposit or 400 prepaid orders.

Can I get "I believe" plates with a Star of David?

I didn't think so!

"Bauer said he is willing to put up the money, then get reimbursed."

Bauer - Who the hell is supposed to reimburse you? The taxpayer which is me?! You want that tag then take the money from your pocket and shove it up yours.

You just guaranteed a NO vote from me next time you run for ANY office.

By law, you are allowed to put a "small sticker" on your plate, as long as it doesn't interfere with the plate lettering...

In affect, you could make your plate read "I Believe in Beer", "I Believe in fishing", "I Believe in Braless Women"... what ever you want :)

"the state already has a process to allow special plates for any cause as long as enough people come together and put up the money needed to buy them"

if this is the case, why do these boneheads need to make a law?

whaaa f---ing whaaa, There was enough commitment to see this thing through. I haven't heard so much whining since kindergarten! So what, if it bothers you don't look at it or get enough signatures to get a plate that says what you want. They have a plate for NASCAR which is sometimes seen as a white redneck sport, seems people would complain more about that. I don't care what kind of plate goes through, I certainly won't loose sleep over it.

I want to thank Lt. Bauer for supporting these new Safety plates. I'm happy that I'll now know who to avoid when the rapture comes. All those driver-less cars could create a serious traffic issue.

Pay $4000 or get 400 people to pay for a tag and get whatever you want. Otherwise, shut up and get over it, these tags don't cost anybody a dime unless you put one on your car.

Posted by bigdumbchimp on June 13, 2008 at 9:47 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes Shut up. You are not allowed to criticize questionable decisions, especially when the one true religion is involved.

Hey Andre weren't you at one of those T Rav parties. This guy is a pathetic loser with a capital L. Another one of those elected pee-ons using the bible to win over those dim witted SC baptist. I value the dog sh*t in my back yard more than I do Andre Bauer. Nice PR move loser!

Can't the governor find something else for him to do? All of these fake religious people out there in this state. Give me a break!!

Posted by dr_fed on June 13, 2008 at 11:03 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey CHRISJIII

Maybe the governor can assign him a job in the state janitorial service. That's about the only level of government he's qualified for.

Make no mistake about it. The USA is full of fakes that use the Bible as a mask. And SC is no exception. We've seen people act all religious and upright only to end up being liars, cheats, and thieves. Imagine that ~

All the things we need to worry about and this is what the legislators do with their time! Are we not #46 in caring for our children? This plate and the ChooseLife plate are going to save all those ALREADY BORN children, right?? Bunch of creeps! Oh and Bauer, Christian of you to drive so fast with your new plate, “I BELIEVE IN A LEAD FOOT!”

If you don't like living in the Bible belt, you are more than welcome to move back to the putrid cesspool which is Ohio.

JohnQ:
You are wrong once again. No where in the Bible does it say that you aren't supposed to share your faith. The only thing that is taught is not to pray publicly for the purpose of self-glorification. In fact, Jesus Himself gives the great commission:
"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15

Who are we to judge the religious beliefs of Baur, or anybody for that matter. No one really knows what's in someone else's heart. Calling someone a fake Christian is just wrong.

Posted by BillMan on June 13, 2008 at 12:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I hear Bauer is running for governor, he would get my vote, I was very impressed with him after meeting him and the good things I have heard he has done with the Office of Aging which he took over!

I'm glad Andre has found jeebus. Now if JohnQ could only find I-95 north.....

Posted by bigdumbchimp on June 13, 2008 at 2:33 p.m. (Suggest removal)

"Calling someone a fake Christian is just wrong."

Says the person that was telling everyone to shut up.

And these tags do and did cost everyone in this state. It costs us the time it took away from those representatives in Columbia not addressing the real issues we have here.

So tell me, you already have the "In God We Trust" plates. So are these new "I Believe" plates for those that don't trust in god?

Posted by bigdumbchimp on June 13, 2008 at 2:34 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I propose a "Good for you, here's a cookie" plate.

If any other religious group wants a plate they too can put up $4,000.00 or get 400 orders for their groups plate.

R. Kelly will be getting one of these tags.

He believe he can fly.

Tags are not a billboard - Jerks!

Another new plate! Huh. As a Vietnam vet, maybe they should focus on plates with a true meaning of being proud. The shag plate really pisses me off, what a waste of $.

Posted by POMAWG on June 14, 2008 at 11:16 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Those plates, & other displays of this type, are not for the ppl reading them, they are for the person who buys them. People that feel the need to have their personal spiritual beliefs plastered all over everything are emotionally insecure.
BTW, 'In Reason We Trust' tags are available.

POMAWG - Amazing that those aren't advertised anywhere. Nice plates!

Mouth of the South 's poor understanding of how the world evolves is idiotic. This is caused by bad leadership over his poor pathetic life. Son you need to explore the globe, SC is not the center of the universe. I am from this state, and I realize that we are not getting it right. I want the best, and we should demand it.

Posted by dr_fed on June 15, 2008 at 12:16 a.m. (Suggest removal)

The scary thing is that this pathetic loser might become governor. Keep bending over Andre. You really need to do more to impress the SC baptist convention
