Police: Teen brings gun to Stall High
Staff report
Thursday, June 5, 2008
A 16-year-old student who took a gun to school Tuesday at Stall High School told authorities that his life had been threatened. North Charleston police were called to the Pinehurst Street school about 2 p.m. for a report of a student who might have a gun. When they arrived, a school administrator had asked the young man to step into the hallway for questioning. When police asked him if he had a gun in his backpack, he did not answer, and when officers patted him down they found no gun, an incident report said. It said that when they asked again if the gun was in his bag he shook his head, answering yes, and officers found the Ruger handgun in a bag in the weight room at the school. The student told officers that he had been bullied and that another student had threatened to shoot him, the report said. It said he admitted he took the gun to school on Monday as well. His name was not released because he is a juvenile. He was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds and illegal possession of a handgun, the report said. It was not clear whether the gun was loaded.

It was not clear if the gun was loaded? How freaking hard would it be to find out? The bully needs a good azz cutting too.

If he was being bullied I wonder if the school was invloved or contacted......
I do agree that he had other options before bringing a gun to school when school is about to be let out....

Just a side note. I went to court with my son for a traffic ticket to let him get a taste of what he can expect if he screws up again. That was a laugh. Several people were there for possesion of an illeagle substance found during a traffic stop and had to pay a fine of 500+ since it was their first offence. No wonder kids and young adults feel that they can get away with anything. They can. Someone said "Expulsion for the student and jail term for the owner of the handgun." Doubt anything like this will happen. Seems too tough for our (SC's) court system. I really felt sorry for the officers that had to come to court and waste their time so that these people could be slapped on the wrist. Start tough, stay tough.

I know from experience that it does no good to call the schools when your child is being bullied. There is never an excuse for any child to bring a gun to school but, the schools really need to do a little more to protect them while they are there! My son was shot in the face with a BB-gun at school and absolutely nothing was done about it. Like a fool I trusted the school to handle it and did not go to the police. The boy was seen with the gun the next day at school and when my son got the principal and took him to the bus the boy was on of course the boy had hid the gun, and do you know..they searched NO ONE..even though more then one person saw the gun. I did call the police after that, but, the pictures that the student resource officer at STRATFORD told me were taken had disappeared..uh huh..convenient! If the roles had been reversed and my son were the shooter, his name and face would have been plastered all over the news.
