Savvy cents, girl
Tuesday, June 3, 2008
For those of us who are a little challenged in the area of financial knowledge, the Women's Foundation of California has released "It's a Money Thing! A Girl's Guide to Managing Money" ($12.99, Chronicle Kids).
This book can help you start a business, figure out why so much of your paycheck seems to be missing (one word: taxes) and navigate savings accounts and the stock market.
While some things may seem beyond your years — perhaps you aren't yet in your dream job or worrying about where to get an apartment — it's never too early to be money smart. The book is aimed at teen girls and has Web sites and a glossary for money savvy wannabes.
