This week's edition of "Here, Listen To This" is brought to you by the number "3," as in musketeers. Today, Preview caught up with Julie Lucisano, Gentry Young and Caroline Marcantoni, stars of the upcoming online soap opera "Forever Ladson." They agreed to offer their autographs and their take on some music if it meant they could lose the headphones and pose like Mizaru, Kikazaru and Iwazaru, the three wise monkeys. Now, let's give the floor to the ladies. Toby Keith - "Courtesy of The Red White And Blue" Julie Lucisano: Why do I feel like I'm about to sit down for a diner at Lone Star Steakhouse? Gentry Young: Songs that feel the need to show how patriotic they are tend to turn me off. Caroline Marcantoni: Yeesh. My dad has this CD. I know the lyrics pretty well, actually. Young: (A look of disgust crosses her face) Really? I'm sorry. For a little Keith goodness, visit youtube.com/watch?v=cSWuA-RttGU, or use the keywords "Toby," "Red" and "White"
Jamiroquai - "Canned Heat" Lucisano: Jamiroquai? Marcantoni: I used to listen to this ... all the time and dance to it by myself. I could never get enough of it. Young: I remember this from "Napoleon Dynamite." Marcantoni: (Grins) In some way, I think this might be my anthem. Young: (looks at Caroline) This would go good with dance therapy. Marcantoni: You're right. Dancing brings people into the moment. I think bad dancers are more fun than good dancers. Lucisano: Last week, I was at a club and this guy was doing some dance like this (giving an impromptu example), but it was so cool because you could tell he was so in the moment. Young: As long as you're dancing, that's all that matters. Relive the moment Napoleon grooves to Jamiroquai with this Sims-inspired video at youtube.com/watch?v=YlUom5T-O40 or use the keywords "Canned," "Heat" and "Napoleon."
Arrested Development - "People Everyday" Lucisano: I'd comment on this song, but I feel too much like dancing. Young: It's got an upbeat tempo to it. Lucisano: Considering the song is about people getting into a fight and being mean to each other, the tempo really contradicts the subject. Isn't this based off the Sly and The Family Stone song? Young: Yeah. Marcantoni: I don't know if I've ever listened to the song that closely before. Find this with the keywords "Arrested," "Development" and "People" or the address youtube.com/watch?v=3w7Odo9X3uU.
Otis Redding - "Try a Little Tenderness" Young: I love this. But every time I hear it I think of that scene in "Pretty In Pink" when the guy comes into the record store dancing to this song. Lucisano: My mom was always listening to this and Motown stuff, so I've always been around this kind of music. Marcantoni: (singing) Try a little tenderness! Lucisano: When I hear songs like this, I feel like I can see the expressions on the singer's faces Young: There always seems to be more passion in music from this era. Watch Jon Cryer (aka Duckie) make a vain attempt to lip synch his way into Molly Ringwald's heart at youtube.com/watch?v=97H1dToqfxY, or use the keywords "Otis," "Pretty" and "Pink."
'N Sync - "Bye Bye Bye" Marcantoni: You know, I feel like enough time has passed that this song has started to whip up nostalgia. Lucisano: I remember watching "TRL" and you'd see all these girls crying and screaming. Young: (Rolls her eyes) They were the epitome of boy bands. Marcantoni: (laughs) There was a time when these guys were every little girl's crush and somebody actually took this music seriously. Young: JT's frosted Jheri Curl was never my thing. Marcantoni: Talk all the trash you want, but you know you knew the lyrics backwards and forwards. Young: It's one of those songs that you hear, and you can't get the song out of your head six hours later, and gets you so annoyed that you wanna kill someone.
