Gov. Mark Sanford

Gov. Mark Sanford

— If you haven’t heard about Gov. Mark Sanford’s appearance Sunday on CNN, check out the video now.

Political observers and bloggers are abuzz today with Sanford’s comments to Wolf Blitzer when asked to point out the differences between President Bush on economic policy and the presumptive Republican nominee John McCain.

“I’m drawing a blank and I hate it when I do that, particularly on television,” Sanford admits as the camera rolls live.

Find out what people are saying about the appearance in tomorrow’s editions of The Post and Courier and whether it could have lasting consequences.

I saw tidbits of it on the news...his train of thought just got derailed, that's all.

I'm amused every time some newscaster says Gov. Sanford is on the short list for VP...he's a good man but McCain needs a VP that helps in swing states. He won't need any help in the Southern states. Sanford would make a good cabinet member or better yet appoint him "Antiwaste Czar".

What an embarrassment he was. Just shows first hand what you get when you skimp on the education budget.

Well, when you live in your own world, like most of us, you don't have a clue as to what is going on.
A good elephant boy would have given some kind of double speak instead of steeping on his lack of knowledge. Is it that Sanford can’t say that Bush is running the country like an idiot , he does not see the problem with Bush and he thinks things, in SC anyway, will get better if he has more control of the government. He has given us the same BS conservative speech for many years.

Text of Video:
BLITZER: Are there any significant economic differences between what the Bush administration has put forward over these many years as opposed to now what John McCain supports?

SANFORD: Um, yeah. For instance, take, you know, take, for instance, the issue of -- I'm drawing a blank, and I hate it when I do that, particularly on television. Take, for instance the contrast on NAFTA. I mean, I think that the bigger issue is credibility in where one is coming from, are they consistent where they come from.

Well he didn't "blank", there are no differences between the policies of Bush and the policies of McCain and he did not want to make that admission. At least he did not lie (except about going "blank"), he just dodged the question
