Man says police 'ruined' romance

Isle of Palms police "ruined" an intimate moment when they investigated a car illegally parked on a beach access June 15. A caller said that a car was parked at the Fifth Avenue beach access and thought there was some indecent exposure going on.

Officers talked to the 52-year-old driver, who admitted to being illegally parked on the path and to making out with his girlfriend in the back seat.

The man told police that they ruined the most romantic moment of his life, the report said.

The driver was given a ticket for parking on the beach.

Police noted on the report that the girlfriend, was "extremely intoxicated."

Neighbor admits to stealing bricks

A McClellanville man called the Charleston County Sheriff's Office on June 22 complaining that his neighbors stole 1,500 of his Charleston bricks.

The 58-year-old man told a deputy that each brick was valued at $5.

He said he confronted his neighbors, a couple who live down the street. The man denied taking the bricks, but the woman admitted they did and said the bricks would be returned, the brick owner told police. The deputy went to the neighbors' home, but they didn't answer.

The brick owner decided not to press charges.

Police say marker damaged car

A Charleston woman called Isle of Palms police June 14 after an Isle of Palms man wrote on her Mazda windows in marker.

The 24-year-old woman said she was parked at a marina and a driver of a second vehicle accused her of blocking him in. "Thanks for blocking me in," the note said, followed by an insult, the report said. Police estimated damage at $20 since the marker could be washed off. There were no charges.

Noisy residents refuse ticket

Police were called to a Palm Boulevard home to investigate loud music on June 13. An officer noticed smoke coming from the pool area and walked to the pool gate and saw a 39-year-old woman covered with a sheet or towel and lying on a lounge chair. When the officer tried to get her attention, she stood up and jumped into the pool naked. The officer told her she needed to turn the music down, and then her husband came outside "using profanity" and ordered his dogs to attack police, the report said. More officers arrived and tried to get the woman's name and birth date so they could write her a ticket for noise, but she gave a fake name.

Then the husband yelled, "Leave my wife alone. She has no clothes on," the report said. The man also told officers that he was calling his attorney and repeatedly told police to get off his property. Police left and planned to mail tickets to the home, the report said.

People cited in alcohol violations

An Isle of Palms officer tracked down a possible drunken driver at 21st Avenue after someone called to complain on June 8. The officer saw a partial case of beer in the bed of the parked truck. The case of beer was torn open and several beers were missing. The officer told the 37-year-old driver that he stopped him because someone called police complaining about his driving. The man said he had been drinking "some," the report said. Two passengers, a man and a woman, also were in the truck.

Police searched the truck and found four beer cans on the passenger side. They were open and empty, but still cold to the touch.

A towel on the floorboard was soaked in beer, as was the sand in the parking area just outside the passenger door.

All three people were charged with violating laws against possessing alcohol in the streets, and police told them not to drive.
