Marijuana found growing in Cross
Wednesday, July 9, 2008
CROSS — Berkeley County and state authorities harvested an estimated $30,000 worth of marijuana from a wooded area during a drug-eradication effort on Monday, sheriff's deputies said. The 15 plants each stood about a foot high, sheriff's Public Information Officer Dan Moon said; they were spotted from a State Law Enforcement Division helicopter. Authorities on the ground tracked them to a wooded area near a vacant mobile home at 517 Forked Lane. The plants were growing outside the property line, Moon said, and deputies' conversations with neighbors yielded no definite answers about who owned the illicit crop.

Reading this headline I thought it was a reglious revelation. First Jesus on an english muffin, Mary on the side of a rusting building and now pot growing on in a Cross.
Of course it is 4:30 AM

Wait a minute here. In my younger days I may,,,,,may have grown some pot and let me tell you, 15 plant one foot tall is no $30,000 worth of pot, maybe $3,000 at best.
Next time, spread them out more!!!!

1 foot high? Um, guess they don't educate our public officials very well. those were just babys, not anywhere close to being harvested. Every time I see headlines like this " $300,000 worth of <any> drugs seized you can be sure it's a totaly over inflated figure. Why they always try to make a mountian out of a mole hill I'll never be able to figure out. Ya know, this stuff is a weed and can and does grow WILD. Our govt' doesn't have the right to out law a Naturaly occuring plant that GOD placed on the earth. I'm so sick of Puritan a$ H0!& trying to controle us.

One has to wonder what would the government do if it were discovered that live oak leaves or common St. Augustine grass would do the trick as well ...

"Berkeley County and state authorities harvested..."
Anyone else see a problem with this statement? Yeah, sure they harvested it...Then what?
Ahh, government. Gotta love 'em.

Well they aren't gonna make much off the crap growing in the woods. They need to bust someone with hydroponics.

They need to legalize the stuff so we won't have to pay for expensive helicopters to fly and look around for one foot plants. We need legalize it and then use helicopters only to search for lost people, transport the injured, and hunt dangerous criminals.

What a huge waste of time and money, marijuana will be blazing for centuries to come. What about all the cocaine coming into the U.S.? Oh, wait thats how the government makes money. Theres no anthrax, but theres plenty of cocaine.

Yes bag, it was in the paper last week that the U.S. handed Mexico $400 million for their anti-drug effort. With all the love Americans have for Mexico I thing $4.00 might be enough. It is a huge waste and only tyranny succeeds. We need to legalize today and sell good quality coke at pharmacies on Fridays so people will have energy to clean their houses on weekends after a long week at work. This way they can buy it safely and know they are not getting ripped off with a bunch of cut!

Dan Moon says things that make me shake my head. Does anyone check with him before he says things in the paper! What was he thinking saying what he said. Good job on the find but bad job on story!

They have to grossly increase the "mature" value of the bust in order to justify the cost of the search/harvest. If the public was made aware that they spent $40,000 in resources to reap $500 in product, they would be mad! That's pretty much what happened here.
