Miracle League plans fundraiser
Tuesday, July 8, 2008
The Summerville Miracle League will hold a "Treasured Tile" painting party at 7 p.m. today at the Kickin' Chicken in Summerville, located on Main Street between the Berlin G. Myers Parkway and U.S. Highway 78. A "Treasured Tile" is an 8-inch-by-8-inch porcelain tile that you can put any design on and sponsor to raise funds for the Miracle League, Tim Hutchison, league publicity director, said. The tax-deductible tiles are $30 each and will help launch the Miracle League, which allows the physically challenged to play baseball on a special turf field while being encouraged by families and friends, he said. After the tile artwork dries, it will be kiln-fired to become permanent. Tiles will be displayed on the Wall of Fame at the new Summerville Miracle League ball field.
