Three polls place Bulldogs in top 25

The Citadel football team ranks among the top 25 in three preseason polls, including 16th in the Phil Steele's Top 25. Five other Southern Conference Schools earned a spot in the top 25. Appalachian State was ranked No. 2, Wofford ranked just above The Citadel at No. 15, while Elon ranked just below the Bulldogs at No. 17. Georgia Southern ranked 19th and Furman took the No. 25 spot. The Bulldogs are ranked 24th in the Consolidated Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) preseason rankings by College Sporting News. Four other SoCon teams earned a top 25 ranking, with Appalachian State leading the way with the No. 1 spot. Elon came in at No. 12, while Wofford tied for the No. 13 spot, followed by Georgia Southern at 22nd. Furman was ranked 35th in the poll. The AnyGivenSaturday.com (AGS) poll of the NCAA Division I FCS ranked the Bulldogs 21st. The AGS Poll has been the first released national poll each year since its inception in 2004. Six other SoCon teams earned top 25 rankings with Appalachian State leading in the No. 1 spot. Wofford was 10th, followed by Elon at 15 and Georgia Southern at 16. Furman came in at 25th.
