Mom's night out

Are you a mom who doesn't get to go shopping because you have no one to baby-sit? Or maybe you take the kids with you and find you just can't get much accomplished.

Help is on the way from 5-9 p.m. July 11 when Dillard's at Citadel Mall offers free baby-sitting and a chance to win mommy-themed gift baskets when shopping in the women's department. Prizes include gift certificates from area spas and salons, fitness centers and restaurants.

For baby-sitting reservations, call Amber at 803-360-5313 or Megan at 803-417-2705.

Haute couture

"The Art of Affluence: Haute Couture and Luxury Fashions 1947-2007" opens Saturday at the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte. The exhibition includes selections from the museum's extensive holdings of haute couture and luxury garments that reflect 60 years of creativity by top European and American fashion designers such as Chanel, De La Renta, Dior, Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Valentino and Versace, among others.

The exhibit will run through 2010. Visit www.mintmuseum.org.

Charitable trunks

During July, Mount Pleasant's In the Bag store is sponsoring "In the Bag Gives Back," during which anyone who hosts a trunk show (at the store, the host's home or another location of their choosing) will receive 10-15 percent of that show's revenue for the charity of their choice.

Alternatively, the public can attend a scheduled trunk show to benefit Women Making a Difference (July 10), Honduras Outreach, Inc. (July 15), Communities in Schools (July 30) and the American Heart Association (July 31). Each event will be 5-8 p.m.

In the Bag, at 976 Houston Northcutt Blvd. in Mount Pleasant, lets customers design a custom handbag from a selection of fabrics, leathers, styles and hardware. Orders are sent to New York City, where within five weeks they are completed by a manufacturer who works with designers such as Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs. Prices range from $50-$325.

For more information about In the Bag or to host a trunk show during the month of July, call the store at 388-7292. To design and order a custom bag online, visit www.inthebagshop.com.

Submit fashion-related items to Christine W. Randall at randall@postandcourier.com. Items must be received by noon Monday for inclusion in Friday's paper.
