Two garden art classes offered for childrenThursday, July 3, 2008
The city of Charleston Recreation Department will offer two classes for youths, ages 6-12, to create garden stones with mosaics at Hazel Parker Playground, 70 East Bay St. The first of two sessions starts Monday. Basically, kids will be led through the process of creating the garden stones, first by creating clay cut-outs, painting and firing them and then by grouting the fired clay pieces into a steppingstone. The classes will be held 9-11 a.m. The first session will be July 7-11 and the second July 21-25. The cost of the class is $85 per student, and there is a limit of 10 students per class.
