Skeletal remains found in the trunk of a vehicle raised Thursday morning from an undisclosed body of water could be related to a missing persons case, Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon said.
However, Cannon is not releasing many details about the case.
Divers located the vehicle Wednesday afternoon at a boat landing after investigators, along with Mount Pleasant police, developed information about an “individual reported missing some years ago,” by a girlfriend, Cannon said.
She couldn’t provide a lot of information, but told investigators the man could have skipped town or could have been the victim of a crime, Cannon said.
