Sex assault suspect arrested

Suspect arrested on similar charges in November

The Post and Courier
Wednesday, July 2, 2008

Michael Anthony Washington

Michael Anthony Washington

A Ravenel man wanted in connection with a series of sexual assaults and burglaries that prompted Charleston's police chief to warn residents to keep their doors and windows locked was arrested Tuesday night by Charleston and North Charleston police.

Michael Anthony Washington, 30, was taken into custody at his residence without incident. Charleston police charged him with two counts of first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. North Charleston police charged him with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree burglary.

The assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and a burglary occurred on May 27 on Smith Street, and the sexual assault and a burglary occurred on June 14 on Radcliffe Street, both in Charleston, police said. The North Charleston sexual assault and another burglary occurred on June 8, 2007 on Mosstree Road, police said.

The Radcliffe Street and Mosstree Road incidents were both burglaries and rapes, and Smith Street was a burglary and attempted sexual assault, according to police reports.

Washington had been arrested in November on similar charges. North Charleston police arrested Washington on November 26, 2007, on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. A State Law Enforcement Division criminal history does not show the current status of those charges. Charleston County Clerk of Court records show that Washington posted bail and left the jail on Dec. 17.

Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen last week said police were investigating the three recent incidents for similarities. It was unclear late Tuesday whether police had connected or excluded Washington from two other downtown incidents that occurred last year.

In those incidents, young women were confronted by an intruder in their homes downtown in the Radcliffborough neighborhood.

Mullen said in all the cases the description of the suspect was similar. He was described as a tall, heavyset black man with puffy cheeks and short hair or a shaved head.

"We're going to continue to investigate each one of these until we can either eliminate them from being connected or we can prove that they are," Mullen said last week.

"What we're recommending is that everybody keep their doors and windows closed and locked and that they use security systems if they have them," the chief said last week.

State records show Washington served time in state prison as a youthful offender in 1997 on a charge of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. His record also shows past convictions for simple assault, driving under suspension, failure to appear in court on a marijuana charge, refusing to leave public premises and breaking into a motor vehicle.

Washington was expected to have a bond hearing on new charges of criminal sexual conduct, burglary and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature sometime Wednesday afternoon.

The death penalty should apply to all convicted criminals.

There is a Michael Anthony Washington (same age) who has multiple arrests and convictions listed on the Chas. County website. If law enforcement is allowed to take DNA samples from these low lifes, crimes like these would be solved more quickly and more crimes prevented.

Great teamwork between the two police departments, thanks for you help guys and gals.
Let's see what Scarlett does on this one!
I read on CNN this morning about the torture techniques the Mexican police use, I think we need the same procedures here in the good ole USA.

Lol @ Gadsden & Jeff

Glad they caught Fat Bastard.

Posted by RTC on July 2, 2008 at 8:24 a.m. (Suggest removal)

So, this is old "puffy cheeks".
Is it my imagination, or is he tilting his head back in arrogance? Hard to tell with the fat cheeks.
Well, he won't have any arrogance left if he is sentenced properly.
I heard that the Smith St. case was particularly ugly.
I hope that young lady is able to heal emotionally and physically, as well as his other victims.
He deserves the death penalty, as serial rapists cannot be rehabilitated and will rape again.

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 8:27 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Good Morning, all.
Yes, I agree that convicted rapists should recieve the death penalty, immediately following the trial. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Fat Bastard needs to fry or be injected.

Posted by Tammie on July 2, 2008 at 8:32 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Lucy, he's been injected with lard. Hence why he is a fat bastard. Like Gadsden suggested, cut his winkiedoodle off. I'd prefer rusty scissors or pinking shears myself. I do the victims heal and I hope they take a little comfort in knowing this overgrown snottball is off the streets.

RTC, he may have his head tilted back because he has a head like a disco ball filled with marbles. Looks heavy to me!

Posted by Early on July 2, 2008 at 8:34 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I think we need to let the victims rape him with those spiked clubs they used in the medieval times before he goes to the big house.

Posted by whycantitbebetterhere on July 2, 2008 at 8:34 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Sounds like the police have arrested this guy many times. Sounds more like our State court system can't keep him in jail. It's time we support our police and DEMAND that the justice system do what it is supposed to and keep these jerks locked up. Oops I forgot, we don't want to raise taxes to increase the size of the jail (but finally had to after 15 freakin years)and pay higher taxes for it. Guess what everyone - your low County millage rate led directly to this guy being out on bail to rape at least two women. Don't you think that they wouldn't have minded paying an extra $50 a year in taxes not to get raped?

Posted by MissPriss on July 2, 2008 at 8:44 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Good Morning Everyone!

I agree with ColdBeer. All convicted rapists should receive the death penalty. Had this been the case he would have fried last November and none of this would have happened. I hope all the victims are able to overcome this.

Posted by theronce on July 2, 2008 at 8:47 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Good job by the cops. We do not pay them enough. This is not the first time that the cops did a good job. We let the bad guys out over and over again. And then we berate the cops when they have a bad day and run off at the mouth or over-react a little. (Cops cannot afford bad days.) I suspect that we only have about half the number of bad guys in prison as we need in there. And we must be too easy on them in prison, because these bad guys apparently have no fear of going back. They look at it as an unlikely inconvenience than something to avoid. We keep doing the same things over and over and expect different results. Who's nuts.

Posted by Landy3261 on July 2, 2008 at 8:50 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I bet the jerk thought he'd never get caught. He should have never been out on the streets in the first place. Again the criminal justice system shows us that it doesn't work. I hope these women will be okay, emotionally and physically.

Notice all these comments are most likely being posted by white people. In this day & age of Obama and such, one could say you're all acting like racists? I mean, this is a black man, so we're not supposed to judge, right? Right?

I'm just sayin...

Posted by RTC on July 2, 2008 at 8:57 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Not to bring up another story, but seeing how they let Daniel Hanf out of jail only goes to prove that rapists don't just attack once. They are not capable of having any regret for what they have done.
When this guy goes to prison he should never be released until he is too old to possibly harm another woman.
Most of us would like to see rapists get the death penalty, but since realistically it's not going to happen, keep them in prison until they die.

Common_sense, whether he was white, black, mexican, haitian, etc., we all share the same sentiment, we are glad this waste of air is off the street and he is no longer able to terrorize anyone. Hopefully they wont let him out either.

I would hope that the public defenders office opts for a plea with a long sentence rather than trying to push this case through the courts.

It's clear from all the posts this guy can't get a fair trial not that he deserves a fair trial, that would be so wrong.

But I'm going to wait to hear what the evidence is before I sharpen my axe.

Posted by PalmettoHawk on July 2, 2008 at 9:37 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty" in our society?

Y'all need to get together and storm CCDC to bust this guy out and impose vigilante justice according to the posts above mine.

Think about it....

No animals were hurt in the expression of this opinion.

Posted by RTC on July 2, 2008 at 9:38 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Can you imagine the anger that these victims and their families must be feeling? If they hadn't have let this guy out on bail, he would have never been able to commit these other crimes. They were totally preventable.
You have to wonder if the magistrates or judges feel any guilt over this fact?
Do they not have the right to deny bail?

Posted by bkeelin on July 2, 2008 at 9:39 a.m. (Suggest removal)

If we had more conservative judges on the Supreme Court we would be well on our way to terminating serial rapists. Unfortunately liberals don't want to punish the criminal they want to punish the victim. If Barack Hussein Obama gets in we may have even more liberal judges like ginsburg who was chief council for the ACLU before she sat on the bench. Then the victims will be punished even more and not only will child rapists not get put to death but they may be allowed contact with the victims they raped so that the criminal can go through a "healing process". God save that dispicable court and God save America.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 9:40 a.m. (Suggest removal)

"Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty" in our society?"

That only applies in the Court of Law, not in the Court of Public opinion!

I just can't help but wonder how in the world he had those previous charges, was released on bail in December & is still out & free? It's like he knew at some point he would be going back to prison so he might as well have at it while he was still free.

I can't imagine the frustration of these young girls & their parents. That is 7 months of him roaming the streets & hurting these girls & God knows who else.

His momma is probably sitting there saying how he never caused any problems & was always a good boy. I call BULLSH*T. We would be better off without any of these monsters....

I hate to ruin all your fun but don't you think maybe he should have a trial first and be found guilty before y'all string him up?

A small technicality I know, but knowing how all you law and order types want the law followed it might be a good idea to get a conviction first.

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 10:13 a.m. (Suggest removal)

512- If a person is found guilty of a violent crime such as rape, murder, or child molestation, what would you suggest be done with him or her??

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 10:23 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Hell, I was molested for 6-7 years, and I haven't bestowed that same fate on others because I am a decent human being and I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I went through. Being raped is no excuse to impose that on anyone else. Especially because you know how it feels.

And I will say again, innocent until proven guilty doesn't apply in the "Court of Public Opinion."

Newt,

I never said to kill him, I said beat his fat nasty ass. But, yes, I would save a child in the womb because the child has done nothing wrong.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 10:38 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Thanks, Tammie. It's like water under the bridge, I got over it years ago and it is very therapeutic to talk openly about it. I went to therapy and I am A-ok! I won't say that I don't get angry or sad about it from time to time, because I do. I just don't let it consume me and talking about it is my way of making sure it doesn't stay bottled up.

Oh, 14 years later, my molester is a repeat offender and he was supposed to have been clean and rehabilitated.

Posted by Newt on July 2, 2008 at 10:44 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I have issues with our justice system, just like all of you! We spend more money on prisons than we do on education. It becomes a circle of self fulfillment. Poverty…you go to a horrible school, you live in the ghetto, you see the only people getting ahead by stealing and selling drugs, you opt for the easy money…you go to prison. You learn to be a meaner badder inmate and more than likely you become a victim of sexual abuse. And the cycle starts again.
Do I want these people on the street via the revolving door of the courts? NO, but let’s at least have a trial.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 10:49 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Newt,

I agree with you. I hate the revolving door. Most of what I want to happen to him should happen if he is found guilty!

Posted by Tammie on July 2, 2008 at 10:49 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Posted by Newt on July 2, 2008 at 10:51 a.m. (Suggest removal)

That is what I say. Don't foster violence with violence.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 11:01 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Newt,

Trust me, I know first hand that these animals are never rehabilitated. The bad thing is I know the little girl that my offender raped. I felt terrible about what happened to her and it wasn't even my fault. I just felt that had I told her my story it would have deterred him from doing that to her. You know, she and her mother could have taken precautions. But, I believed that he had been rehabilitated since we all went to therapy and that he was no longer a threat. Boy was I wrong. Now I pray that he is getting bent over by a huge dirty smelly guy that he is sharing his cell with!

Posted by ColdBeer on July 2, 2008 at 11:06 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I do believe my post (the corrected one) said "all rapist should receive the death penalty". I stand by my statement.

When a convicted criminal goes to prison and is abused in prison, you can't blame the prison system. You have to place the blame where it rightfully belongs. Who, or what, is to blame for the criminal being in prison in the first place? Usually, the criminal is to blame. It is his own fault that he ended up in prison; in a society that he was fully aware was dangerous and predatory. While I think a person being raped in prison is wrong, and that rapist should be put to death, I feel no pity for the criminal as he or she put themselves in that situation anyway.

If murderers, rapists, child molesters and violent criminals such as armed robbers were given the death sentence and executed in a timely manner, prison would not be near as dangerous for the non violent offenders.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 11:17 a.m. (Suggest removal)

ColdBeer, I agree wholeheartedly with your statement that "[w]hen a convicted criminal goes to prison and is abused in prison, you can't blame the prison system. You have to place the blame where it rightfully belongs." It is a cop out for anyone (512c) to say that they did it because it was done to them. Like I said before, knowing how it feels to be violated, that person should never want to make anyone else feel that way. And if they do, I say that they are just plain evil and do not deserve to walk among the rest of us.

Lovely,

What is your source that says he disagrees with the liberal justices and agrees that child rapists should be put to death?

If elected, which I doubt, he would still appoint liberal justices just like ginsburg and you and I both know it. Do not try to mask his incredibly liberal/socialistic/communistic record like those false preachers down in Texas are doing.

Posted by RTC on July 2, 2008 at 11:41 a.m. (Suggest removal)

For all of those that want to blame what happened to a person when they were young, just remember this one thing.
Feel sorry for the child, but as an adult they know the difference between right and wrong. Inflicting pain on others is not the answer to their problems.
If you look at the statistics, most serial killers grew up in severely dysfunctional homes. Should we say, "Oh, he couldn't help it, because he was abused as a child?"
I think not.

Posted by concernedlocal on July 2, 2008 at 11:49 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I agree with you Cold Beer. I think castration would just frustrate a person more and perhaps the next crime they commit would be murder or rape with an object.

Posted by ColdBeer on July 2, 2008 at 1:04 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Mayor, did you read my correction to post? Probably not. Why read when you can simply type and try and belittle someone? You’re firing blanks mayor. Since you never post about the article itself, no one cares what you have to say anymore.

Maybe there is a reason you have so much anger directed towards me. Am I your long lost father or something? It’s “possible”. I did sleep with a lot of “loose” women before I got married. Oh wait.. I know what it is… you’re upset about my tough stance on criminals… are you a convicted rapist mayor? Is that the deal here?

If you slide back from the keyboard just a tad, you’ll be able to pull that foot out of your mouth. As for all of the feet up your ass… I have no help there…

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 1:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

coldbeer- looks like mayor has nothing else to say. Not that he ever says anything worthwhile anyway.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 1:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Wow, Mayor, those were probably two of the dumbest posts you have even sat down and typed out and that is very hard to be considering your past postings. We are law abiding citizens and would like to remain that way, especially of our only reason for committing a crime would be to get thrown in jail to "take out" that fat bastard. I know, why don't you do it. I am sure another arrest under your belt won't matter either way!

BTW, you've just been NEXT'd

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 1:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Lovely_One-
That was priceless!

Posted by ColdBeer on July 2, 2008 at 1:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I curse for emphasis and humor. :)

Sometimes just when a fish gets away :)

I like reading mayor's post. They're entertaining. It's like when you were in school and called someone a name, or told a joke about their mama... mayor's they kid that always said "Oh Yea? Well so are you!" Now he has a keyboard to hide behind and he's found his "true voice". I just wish he'd learn how to express his true thoughts instead of lashing out blindly and making a fool of himself. I've been teaching him, but he's a slow learner. I haven't given up just yet.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 1:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Thanks, lucy! Mayor is just a ranting idiot and I ignore him mostly. Today was one of those days when I felt like being a little spicy! Lol!

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 1:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

LMAO @ CB's last post. "Oh Yea? Well so are you!"

You are right. His posts are quite entertaining. There are certain posters, I scroll past because I know they don't have anything profound to say, but not Mayor's posts. Even though I know they are filled with nothing, I read them anyway. I am always curious as to what he pulled out of his butt and neglected to wipe off today!

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 1:34 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Lovely,
OMG you are killing me!! That last post about what Mayor pulled out of his butt- Oh Lord!! Trying to wipe the tears away as I type. Now mascaras' in the eye.

Coldbeer- i know you are trying to teach Mayor a few things, but I don't think it's gonna work. I hope you have a lot of patience and many cold ones.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 1:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)

lucy,

The visual of the mascara running in your eyes have me rolling. I won't laugh too hard because I know how that mess burns. Trust me, I have had a few mascara run moments in my day. Hmm... think that is why I quit wearing it.

Posted by MissPriss on July 2, 2008 at 1:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

LoL at Lovely!

CB never ceases to amaze me with his posts....as for Mayor....I don't waste my time reading them. :)

Posted by Girleygirl on July 2, 2008 at 1:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yall are funny. I read Mayor's post and then I let it go because there are days where I am left feeling empty because I don't understand. He seems okay, mad and deranged, at times but ok! I like Mayor...he is funny!

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 1:44 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Lovely,

Now, thanks to you and CB, not only is the mascara in my eyes, but all over my contacts. What a mess.
Actually, its all Mayor's fault. If he hadn't posted such assine comments, this wouldn't have happened.

Girleygirl: "I am left feeling empty because I don't understand."

LMAO! You sound so sad in that post! I must agree with you on the fact that Mayor is funny. I think that may be another reason I read his posts too.

Wow got him. Good Job CPD

Posted by cofc_student on July 2, 2008 at 1:47 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Finally! I am so tired/ livid of getting these "community Notification" emails detailing his latest attack against a fellow student. As a female college student living downtown, I am aware that just because this man is off the street does not mean that we are "safe". I will still lock the doors and my roommates and I will rely on out security system and two “guard” dogs that would not let anyone into the house. However, I believe that this man should not have had the opportunity to commit the crimes that he has. He should have never been let out on bail…..

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 1:56 p.m. (Suggest removal)

lucy,

Now you have me crying. I can only imagine how blurred your vision is with mascara on your contacts. And, yes, it is all Mayor's fault.

Okay, back on topic, I hope they take Mr. Michael Anthony Washington, lock him away with no food for a few months, let him get extremely skinny (wait that will require more than a few months-so add some more time to that) and weak, and then put him in a cell with the biggest, nastiest, smelliest inmate they can find-oh, this inmate has to love his mama more than anything in the world and we must tell him to imagine that Mr. Washington raped his mama, and let big, nasty, and smelly have his way. I hope big, nasty, and smelly makes Mr. Washington bounce his forehead against his (smelly's) bellybutton repeatedly everyday for as long as he is locked up.

All of this if he is convicted, of course!

Posted by Tammie on July 2, 2008 at 1:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Lovely, Lucy, and Girley, y'all are off the chain. I dont like anyone messin with my baby daddy ColdBeer...although 99.9% of his retaliation posts are funny as hell.

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 1:59 p.m. (Suggest removal)

cofc,
I am grateful that he has been caught also. I'm sure it has been more than difficult for you to know that something like this has been going on so close to home for you. Please, don't let your guard down, and continue locking your doors and being cautious.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. (Suggest removal)

cofc,

I agree with you. Had the system done what it should have done, this man would not have been out and able to commit these crimes. I am sorry that you all had to live in fear this way and I am happy that you have taken the proper precautions to ensure your safety. Stay alert and stay smart and safe.

Posted by common_sense on July 2, 2008 at 2:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty"? So glad to see the lynch mob is out in full force, and the fact that the accused is black makes it all the more easy, doesn't it?

From forced oral sex in prison to being hung in front of the courthouse, I'm glad your minds are made up about homeboy.

I'm just sayin...

Posted by Girleygirl on July 2, 2008 at 2:09 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hell I thought it was some type of message that only I could not read and everyone else would post to him so I did feel left out....lol

I wanted to post tooooo! I just want to understand...you all know my head is bad especially after mistaken the guy broken glasses for a broken arm on a previous article.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 2:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

common_sense,

Daniel Hanf is a white guy and I wish the same thing on him. Again, this is not a black and white issue, it's a nasty ass piece of crap who gets his jollies by taking advantage of and forcing himself on defenseless, unsuspecting young women. And in this guy's case, if he did it, it's about a person who is probably twice the size of some of the women he attacked doing so.

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 2:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Lovely- "make his forehead bounce against smelly's bellybutton" Oh My God!!!!! The contacts have now floated out of my eyes, my customer thinks I have been beaten, and my boss thinks I need to take the rest of the day off.

Common- whatever

Show of hands.how many people in here would know Before you did the crime and would go to prison if caught would most likely be forced to have oral sex and such and with this knowledge would maybe be a good citizen and straighten the hell up....

I'm just saying...

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 2:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Dang, Girley, I forgot about the guy with the broken glasses. That crap was funny. You shouldn't have reminded me of that because you will not live that down!!!!

lucy,

We are so gettin' fired today! The contact "floated" out of your eye!

PHawk,
What if it was your family this jerk met. How would you get justice served?

Posted by MissPriss on July 2, 2008 at 2:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

LoL @ Girley! :)

Back to the article:

"Washington had been arrested in November on similar charges."

Would you look at that? He's done it before without much punishment. This guy just posted bail and was back out doing the same thing again. He should have been taken off the streets then, as I posted earlier.

I could care less if homeboy was white, black, hispanic, blue, yellow or whatever.

He should get the death penalty. Clearly he's not going to change and I don't want my tax dollars taking care of his fat ass in jail.

To all young women living downtown...please continue locking your doors, get a guard dog if possible, hell buy a gun...that's what I would do. One scumbag down... countless more I'm sure.

I'm just sayin...

Posted by lucy_fan on July 2, 2008 at 2:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Lovely-
I'm not getting fired. I have the sympathy vote. Everyone here thinks I have either gone crazy or have have major allergies. I don't know what excuse you are gonna use!! :-)

MAYOR, So funny you bring HITLER into this. How did he get to power? By playing on other people's fears and pandering to the voters. I am talking about the early years when they (NAZI's) were a minority. The SS came later.

Good one, Lovely!!

Posted by ColdBeer on July 2, 2008 at 3:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)

This is not a court of law. Put just about any of these posters in a court of law and they'll do the right thing. They'll listen to the evidence and come to a conclusion based on the facts and evidence presented in the court room.

This is just a website. We have no power over this man. We express our opinions. To say that those opinions are based on race just because the accused happens to be black is kind of silly. If you asked my opinion, I'd bet that he is found guilty. Not because he's black but because he's got a rap sheet a mile long and because the police seem to think he's a pretty good suspect in this one. When he is found guilty, he should be put to death. Not because he's black, but because he rapes women. Orange rapist should be put to death too.

Posted by Girleygirl on July 2, 2008 at 3:18 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I don't care if he was a mulit colored telletubbie.....once he is found guilty, he should get the death penalty. He should not be able to victimize any one anymore! I will allow the courts to decide of course because we don't have a choice but once all evidence is presented and if he pleads guilty or is found guilty, put him down.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 3:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Thanks lucy. ColdBeer, that post was dead on. I don't know why common_sense insists on throwing that race card around. It ain't a Visa card, meaning it's not "everywhere you want to be." But I'm sure he thinks it is American Express, because he seems to "never leave home without it", at least from these comments today. I just hope that he gives it a rest and cuts the dang thing up. I wonder if it is time for him to renew his membership with the NAACP.

Girleygirl,

You leave Tinky Winky out of this! Lol!

I thank most all of you for so eloqently making my point. And please enjoy my catch phrase as well. You'll be seeing a lot more of it.

You may not agree with me, but I promise, I will make you think. Something sorely missing from the world today.

You're just thinkin...I'm just sayin...

Posted by MindBath on July 2, 2008 at 4:27 p.m. (Suggest removal)

How about this instead.

Why don't we wait until he is convicted. Then sentence him to death. Then, since the punishment is irreversible, allow an appeals process to run its course so that we make sure there was no bad police work, coerced plea, frame job, etc. and that it wasn't a case of a mayor, police chief, or some other elected official pushing police to cut corners as a result public pressure to solve a crime. This way, we all look like actual human beings and we avoid finding out later (as has happened in many cases) that we killed the wrong guy. Once that is done, we fry him, but we still hold the moral and ethical high ground!

... okay, now back to the Nancy Grace chatroom.

Posted by Lovely_One on July 2, 2008 at 4:43 p.m. (Suggest removal)

And tossing around the old addage "you are just saying that because he's black" is inciting thought, how exactly?

I'm just askin...

Posted by LadyTarHeel on July 2, 2008 at 4:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Tammie: Your Boondocks reference is CLASSIC!! LOL! I am willing to bet that if more people thought that way, people wouldn't go to jail.

I'm very happy they caught this guy! I don't live downtown, but I do go to school downtown and I often work after dark. I have never called public safety to escort me to my car, since I have a handicapped placard and can park close to the building, but since this stuff started happening, I have called them several times. I am going to continue to do so though. Nice to have someone to talk to and to watch all the areas I can't see with my own two!
