Some people still aren't getting the message that Crab Bank is only for the birds.

State environmental officials said they recently found a pile of beer bottles on the tiny sliver of sand at the mouth of Shem Creek. Just hours after escorting reporters to see the island, state Department of Natural Resources biologist Felicia Sanders said she saw two boats drop off children at the island's nesting grounds.

Meanwhile, some people say they want to see the island opened again during the summer, despite increases in the number of brown pelican, black skimmer and royal tern nests.

Start issuing citations, fill the court dockets with tresspassers and fine them to the maximum allowable under the law.
