Snapper Jack's is a good fit for Folly Beach

Snapper Jack's

Snapper Jack's

When it comes to Folly Beach night life these days, or simply Folly Beach in general, my mind invariably wanders to an old Post and Courier article on the passing of local musician Rick Huff. Huff, a man I never met, had an affinity for his adopted hometown of Folly Beach and had once described it as 'Mayberry by the sea.'

Huff was right.

Folly Beach certainly has an enduring community spirit that can be experienced at places like Snapper Jack's. Although it doesn't have the long history of a local institution like the Sand Dollar, which is directly across the street from Snapper Jack's, the bar is no doubt a Folly favorite in its own right.

Owner Mike Kirages explains that Snapper Jack's 'offers something for everybody; dancing, bands, a breakfast buffet, an ocean view, rooftop dining.'

The place was packed on the night of my visit, and the combination of live music and the beach atmosphere made for a fun evening.

The two-story bar does indeed offer a nice ocean view, and its location on Center Street is ideal. Even on a busy night, the bar staff was quick and friendly. This was made even more impressive given the large crowd.

Snapper Jack's features multiple televisions for all your sports watching needs and is unique in that it offers breakfast each day beginning at 8 a.m.

Live music is a regular feature at Snapper Jack's as are dance nights.

There were plenty of girls dancing on the night of my Snapper Jack's excursion, which is a must for any genuine hotspot.

In both community spirit and the general free-spirited nature of Folly, Snapper Jack's is a perfect fit for Folly Beach, as its loyal customers, both local and from elsewhere, can attest.
