The Post and Courier Past storyDriver crashes taxi after hearing threat, published 08/21/08 North Charleston police think they have rounded up several members of an armed-robbery crew that targeted cab drivers and restaurant-delivery drivers in the Dorchester Terrace area since June. On Thursday, the department announced the arrest of four teenagers in the holdups. Officers continue to search for at least one more person. "They're suspected of being involved in most of the delivery driver and cab driver robberies in that area," Detective Lt. Scott Deckard said. "Whether they're actually charged in all those robberies remains to be seen." Police charged: Antwan Riley, 16, one count of armed robbery; Terrance Palmer, 17, one count of armed robbery; Gerard Riley, 19, three counts of armed robbery and one count of common-law robbery; and an unnamed juvenile, 14, on two counts of armed robbery. The Rileys are siblings. Police also have obtained a warrant to charge Jessie Grant, 18, with armed robbery. Antwan Riley received a $25,000 bond during a hearing, and Terrance Palmer $50,000 bail, Deckard said. Gerard Riley's bond was set at $15,000 on one of three robbery charges. The detective said that all the suspects appear to live in the area where the robberies occurred. He said more charges and arrests are possible. I can't believe how low their bonds are. They'll be back on the streets and robbing again for Labor Day.

It's a disease...they're taught that "the world isn't going to give you anything, so you have to take it..."
And they're so stupid that they take that phrase literally.
Glad they caught 'em. I woulda set their bond at $500,000 apiece.

These fellows just need a second chance. Let's send them to boot camp for a few weeks and I sure they will return as outstanding citizens and perform additional "community services"

One would think they would eventually run out of idiots in the ghetto! Where do they keep coming from? I mean we can render entire species endangered/threatened but we can't stop the poliferation of wild animals in a very small area of our cities. I don't think we are trying hard enough to eradicate these vermin!

You know you guys are so right, I bet if you guys were born into urban poverty as sons and daughters of parents who were born into the same fate and parent's parents and so on back to ancestors, great, great grand parents who were citizens of a country who decided that these people were no longer welcome since slave labor was outlawed, you would, in spite of all the odds, rise triumphantly from the hot concrete as beautiful peach tea roses and go off to become Senators, doctors, lawyers, or an assortment of experts with Ph.D.'s in neuroscience and the like.

I will expand on that since you do not have the intelligence to figure out that when you mess up punishment SHOULD be rendered.
That being said however, there is a root cause to these issues which can not be addressed in this forum but should have psychiatrist, psychologist and the like who should be well funded by public funds to address this issue which plagues all AMERICANS.
If these where middle class white kids they would definitely be on wellbutrin, prozac, lithium, ritilin, concerta, strattera if need be ETC. ETC. receiving regular counseling and support from MEDICAL professionals.
Yes I said it... This country has driven Black male youth CRAZY as the evidence has been suggesting since circa 1970 after the murder of MLK and beyond.

RW, your comments are all too correct. This isn't about race. heck, i was raised in 7 foster homes, i was beat, neglected, and treated second rated, but i didn't use that as an excuse. my last foster home, i had to leave when i was 15. i stayed at several friends houses, slept on their sofa, and did this until i graduated from high school. i worked odd jobs, and once i graduated, i got a full time job and my own place. i didn't make excuses and i darn well didnt want sympathy. all i wanted was an opportunity. I'm not a senator or anybody real important, but i don't care. QUIT MAKING EXCUSES BECAUSE OF YOUR RACE!!!!
