Woman escapes mobile home fire
Thursday, August 28, 2008
A woman escaped a mobile home fire Tuesday afternoon in the Liberty Hill neighborhood of North Charleston after her smoke alarm sounded, firefighters said. The woman was at home at 4908 Nesbit Ave. when the fire started in her dryer at 3:53 p.m., Battalion Chief Eric Phillips said. Crews contained the fire to the area around the dryer and later aired out the smoke from the home. Phillips credited a smoke detector that firefighters installed within the past two years with helping the woman avoid serious injury.
