High Cotton, 199 East Bay St., has been known for their espresso martini ever since the place opened. Many people have tried to duplicate it, but few have succeeded. The secret is that the establishment has a special blend of espresso designed exclusively for the bar. If you have not tried one lately, stop by. It really is the perfect combination of vanilla vodka, Kahlua and espresso — shaken and chilled — with a rim of cocoa. Watering at Oasis Oasis, 778 Folly Road, is known in town as hosting rock and punk shows. However, the place features some really great drink specials as well. Every Wednesday you can enjoy $1 beer. Sunday-Tuesday, the Oasis features $2.25 vodka. There are no frills at this place. Just stop on in and cozy up to the bar. Crave happy hour Crave, 1968 Riviera Dr. at Seaside Farms, Mount Pleasant, is very quickly putting itself on the culinary map. The place also features a really great happy hour 4-7 p.m. weekdays. Crave features $5 speciality martinis, $2 domestic beer and $3 well drinks as well as $5 glasses of sangria. For more, visit www.cravemtp.com.
Healthy cocktails I made it from a trip to Manhattan and only gained one pound. I came back to town and was only able to hit the gym twice before I headed to Hilton Head to produce an Andrew Lloyd Webber tribute concert for a week. They do have a great gym facility here. I believe, as predicted, I have hit a wall and am not able to lose more weight. I have done the 48 pounds but I want to get to 60. I suspect that I really need to push harder and we will continue to update you on the quest. This week's healthy cocktail is a cucumber mint infused vodka twister. Pour your vodka into a pitcher with your cucumber and mint and let it sit for 6-8 hours. Serve over the rocks and throw in a splash of soda water. It is a delicious way to end your summer. Back to school College is getting back into session. Bars and clubs, if you have a back-to-school promotion, Behind Bars would like to hear about it. Drop us a line at lroberts@postandcourier.com.
