The Parkinson Association of the Carolinas and Palmetto Healthcare will host a symposium 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at the Brookland Banquet and Conference Center, 1066 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia.

Among the speakers will be Dr. Abraham Lieberman, director of the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. Topics will include the different classes of drugs in Parkinson's disease and how they are used, the physiological basis of physical therapy in Parkinson's disease, coping strategies for the emotional roller coaster of care-giving, and practical exercise techniques for the management of Parkinson's disease.
