Preservation Lecture: 6 p.m. Gibbes Museum, 135 Meeting St., Charleston. Peter McGee and author Anthony Wood present "A Tale of Two Cities: A Shared Preservation History?" This lecture will discuss the architectural and historic preservation movements of New York City and Charleston. A light reception will follow. "Colonial Days": Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, 1254 Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant. 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Free. Experience a two-day, living-history exhibit including crafters in period dress demonstrating rice-pounding, indigo-dyeing, ironsmithing, brick masonry, sweetgrass basket sewing, quilting, Gullah storytelling, African drumming and 18th-century music. Saturday

2008 Pet Expo: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Night Heron Park, Kiawah Island. Open to all pet lovers and owners, and their pets, the expo will feature meet-and-greets with local dog and cat rescue groups, presentations and demonstrations on training, nutrition and health, games, live entertainment and more. Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival: 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Alhambra Hall, 131 Middle St., Mount Pleasant.
