Centre Point Bar & Grill
Rob Young
Centre Point Bar & Grill delivers a beefed-up bar menu of burgers, salads, pasta, sandwiches and TVs. Lots of TVs. The place is crawling with the not-so-little buggers, the larger models lining the walls. Toss in a couple of pool tables, the open bar area, and it's a swell place to catch a game or a bite. Settle in with a few starters, say, an order of Canadian fries ($5.99) smothered in melted mozzarella cheese and rich brown gravy, or tuna bites ($8.99), sesame-encrusted, sushi-grade ahi, seared and thinly sliced. Standard apps include mozzarella sticks ($5.99), chicken fingers ($6.99), quesadillas ($7.99), crab and shrimp dip ($7.99). Or make do with a sandwich. The tuna and chicken melts ($6.99) are served with caramelized onions and Swiss cheese on wheatberry bread. Centre Point makes a pulled-pork barbecue sandwich ($6.99) with a mustard-based sauce, and a po boy ($7.99), your choice of fried shrimp, oysters or flounder. The burgers ($6.99) are half-pound Angus-certified, and cooked to order. Need more buck for your beef? Centre Pointe's steaks qualify. They cook a 12-ounce rib-eye ($15.99), a 10-ounce New York strip ($14.99) and an 8-ounce filet ($16.99). Like the sandwiches, the steaks come with choice of sides, including fries, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, onion rings, twice baked potato salad and some pretty yummy coleslaw. The restaurant alternates daily specials, too. A hint: Hit 'em up on Mondays for 30-cent wings in 12 varieties, such as tequila lime, sweet chili garlic, Lowcountry BBQ and sweet and spicy plum. Otherwise, an order costs $4.99 for six, $6.99 a dozen.

Staff and food have been horrible from the start. These positive posts must be friends of the owners or employees. Don't waste your time, the only upside is the money you save by not getting service. There is a particular guy there who must be an owner who is annoying as heck (at least he acts like he owns the place.)

I've been going there since its opening. It has come a long way. The wings are fantastic... the best around actually. Great prices and specials every night of the week. The portions are fair and I think the service is as good as anywhere. The only thing they need is a smoking ban!
