Lightning suspected as cause of attic fire
Wednesday, April 2, 2008
The attic of a house in the Archdale community caught fire Tuesday afternoon, and lightning is a possible source of the blaze. When firefighters arrived about 5:40 p.m., fire was coming through the roof on the front left corner of the home on Mans-field Boulevard, Ashley River Fire Department Chief Scott Inabinet said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but he said a thunderstorm passed through the area before the fire, and there were several lightning strikes nearby. No residents were home at the time, but firefighters took a puppy out of the garage. The fire was limited to the attic, and there was only light smoke on the second floor of the home, Inabinet said.
