Chamber Music Charleston
Chamber Music Charleston, founded and directed by Sandra Nikolajevs to develop an audience for classical music, will present 10 classical programs, two family concerts at the Footlight Players Theater and one collaboration with the Actors' Theatre of South Carolina and the Footlight Players.

SEPT. 14: Gala Chamber Soiree, Calhoun Mansion, 16 Meeting St., featuring food and the music of Mozart and Borodin. $50.

OCT. 8: Charleston House Concert. Venue to be determined. $25. The music of Shostakovich and Mozart will be played in both house concerts.

NOV. 5: Charleston House Concert, 47 South Battery. The music of Mozart and Bach will be performed. $25.

Charleston Symphony Orchestra
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the largest year-round performing arts group in the state, celebrates its 72nd anniversary this season.
The professional group with 45 musicians is led by David Stahl, conductor and music director. Starting his second season with the CSO is Scott Terrell, who serves as resident conductor.
The CSO presents several series each season and conducts outreach and educational programs for some 30,000 area children.

Masterworks Series
Concerts are held in Gaillard Auditorium and are conducted by David Stahl. Season tickets range from $100 to $400.
SEPT. 29: 'Carmina Burana' by Carl Orff, also using a choir of 250 voices.
OCT. 27: Works by Debussy, Bartok and Beethoven performed by Enrique Graf, Lee Chin Siow and Natalia Khoma, all faculty at the College of Charleston Department of Music.
NOV. 17: Violinist Alex Kerr performs Beethoven's music on Isaac Stern's legendary Stradivarius.
JAN. 19: Guest pianist Jeffrey Biegel plays 'Rach 3,' one of the most difficult piano concertos ever written.
FEB. 2: Guest cellist Robert deMaine performs Sibelius' Symphony No. 5.
FEB. 23: Pianist Marina Lomazov performs Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2.
MARch 29: CSO Concertmaster and violinist Yuriy Bekker performs Korngold's Violin Concerto and Berlioz' 'Symphonie Fantastique.'
McCrady's Pops Series
For this popular, lighter music series, season tickets range from $75 to $189 for five concerts. All are performed at Gaillard Auditorium and are conducted by Scott Terrell.
OCT. 13: Performance of music from 'West Side Story,' celebrating its 50th anniversary.
DEC. 15: The CSO Chorus and Orchestra perform traditional and sacred holiday songs.
JAN. 12: Quartetto Gelato celebrates the music of Italy from Neapolitan songs to opera.
FEB. 9: New Orleans' Dukes of Dixieland performs traditional jazz and Dixieland ragtime and blues.
APRIL 12: Finnish vocalist Rajaton performs an ABBA tribute playing 'Dancing Queen' and other selections from the Broadway show 'Mamma Mia.'
Backstage Pass Series
The Backstage Pass Series is new this season and replaces the Casual Classics Series. Tickets range from $95 to $125 for five concerts. All will be held at the Sottile Theatre and will be conducted by Scott Terrell.
OCT. 5: The music of Piazzolla, Golijob and Ginastera will be performed.
NOV. 9: This concert celebrates the music of Sierra, Milhaud, Reveultas and DeFalla.
JAN. 25: Cellist Louise Dubin will perform the music of Corigliano, Dvorak and Janacek.
APRIL 4: Dvorak's 'Serenade for Winds' and the music of Sallinen and Grieg will be played.
APRIL 25: Soprano Courtenay Budd, of Spoleto Festival USA fame, will sing Copland's 'The Tender Land.'
Out of the Box Series
This series presents concerts from a fresh perspective at the Charleston Music Hall. All concerts begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15, general admission, $5 full-time students with ID.
OCT. 11: 'Music Meld' with jazz percussionist Quentin Baxter.
FEB. 14: 'Blurring the Line' with guest artist Jay Clifford.
APRIL 10: Third annual Charleston Symphony Orchestra Film Contest.
Family Concerts Series
This fare is intended for adults and young people. Tickets for each concert are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
NOV. 10: 'Two by Seuss,' 10 a.m., Sottile Theatre.
JAN. 26: 'How to Build an Orchestra,' 10 a.m., Sottile Theatre.
FEB. 24: Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra, 6 p.m., Wando High School.

Kinderkonzerts
'The Jammin Bremen Town Musicians' is a free concert for children held at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on the following Saturdays:

Annual Gospel Christmas Concert
Dec. 1: A Holiday Concert by the CSO Gospel Choir led by Glenn R. Nixon. Gaillard Auditorium. Tickets are $30.

International Piano Series
Featuring virtuoso piano players from throughout the world, the International Piano Series, sponsored by the College of Charleston's School of the Arts, was founded in 1990 by the College of Charleston's artist-in-residence Enrique Graf, who is also a concert pianist.
The series will present five piano concerts this season at the Sottile Theatre, 44 George St.
Season tickets for all five concerts are $80 and tickets to individual concerts are $20.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 953-6575 or at the door the evening of the concert. College of Charleston students and those under 18 are admitted free.
All concerts take place at 8 p.m.

Monday Night Concert Series
The Monday Night Concert Series sponsored by the Department of Music at the College of Charleston takes place at the Recital Hall of the Simons Center for the Arts, 54 St. Philip St. on the campus, unless otherwise noted. Admission to all concerts is $5 at the door and all begin at 8 p.m.
