Today

A cruise-in for Toys for Tots will be held 5-7 p.m. at Andolini's Pizza on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. Marines will be there to collect the gifts. Donations should be new, unwrapped toys. Dec. 1

Holly Hill Christmas Prelude Festival and Car Show will begin at 10 a.m. Cars will line up at the end of the holiday parade, which forms at 10 a.m. at Peake Street and Hampton Street. Parade starts at 11 a.m. The car show will be in the center of town after the parade with judging at 1 p.m. Registration is $15. All cars, tractors, motorcycles and trucks welcome. Dec. 7-8

Cripple Dog Hot Rods and Boone Hall Plantation are sponsoring Cars in the Carolinas: Carolina Open Car Classic & Hot Rod Run at Boone Hall, U.S. Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant. Registration, which is $75, is 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and 6-10 a.m. Saturday. Awards ceremony is at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Show vehicles must be driven onto show grounds. Classes are open original cars, and trucks and open modified cars, and trucks for years 1900-29, 1930-39, 1940-48, 1949-59, 1960-69, 1970-89 and 1990-present.; muscle cars, years 1963-74 and Mopar, Ford, Chevy and GM; Mustangs, years 1964-66, 1967-68, 1969-70, 1971-73, 1974-78, 1979-93, 1994-98, 1999-2004 and 2005-08; Camaro, years 1967-1972, 1973-82, 1983-92 and 1993-2002; Corvette, types C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and C6; Chevelle, years 1964-67, 1968-72 and 1973-77; Nova, years 1962-65; 1966-67;1968-74 and 1975-79; Chevy, 1955-57; Firebird/TransAm all years; T-buckets, turtle backs & roadsters, rat rod cars and rat rod trucks; exotics, and import and domestic sports cars; street road including car, trucks and tuners; lowrider car, trucks and "leadsleds"; station wagons; convertibles; 4x4s; and works in progress. There also will be Best of the Carolina's Final Classes including best open car; open truck; muscle car; Ford; Mopar; GM; street rod car; street rod truck; Tri-5; sports car; import; exotic; best South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Florida and Tennessee; engine; paint; and interior. Car corral. Sister Hazel to play after awards ceremony. Former NASCAR driver Ernie Irvan scheduled to appear. The Raleigh Classic car auction will be held at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Rd. in Raleigh. Auction times are 1-7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Bidders' fee is $50. Admission is free to registered bidders, $10 a day or $15 for a two-day pass for adults and $5 a day or $7 for a two-day pass for children. Among the cars up for auction are a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette, 1941 Cadillac 4-door sedan, 1970 Cadillac Biarritz convertible and 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442. Auctions America is host.
