Candlelight service The S.C. Corps of Cadets will present its Christmas Candlelight Service for the Lowcountry at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1-3 in the Summerall Chapel on The Citadel campus. Cadets from the Protestant, Catholic and gospel choirs, chorale, women's ensemble and members of The Citadel Regimental Band will take part in the annual celebration. Traditional and international favorites will be sung, and highlights include the Procession of Lights. Cadets coordinate the production with Nancy Lefter, director of chorale activities; organist Mark A. Bebensee of the School of Business Administration; and Cmdr. Mike Alverson, director of music. The hourlong program is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted. Flash cameras and video lights are not permitted inside the chapel. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking on campus and seating in the chapel. For more information, call 953-5049. Yuletide Madrigal Feast The department of music in the School of the Arts at the College of Charleston will present "A Yuletide Madrigal Feast" at 7 p.m. Dec. 6-8 in Alumni Memorial Hall in Randolph Hall on the College campus. The College of Charleston Madrigal Singers, conducted by Dr. Robert Taylor, will perform sacred and secular traditional holiday season carols. Each of the three evenings will be filled with Renaissance entertainment and a feast. The Renaissance menu will consist of French pork chop with black truffle demi-glaze, fingerling potatoes, grilled asparagus spears, rustic breads, cranberry/walnut tart, tea, coffee and wine. Wassail also will be served. Tickets are $60 each, sold in advance until 5 p.m. Dec. 3. Seating is limited, and tickets will not be sold at the door. Tickets may be purchased by calling 953-6306. WWII veterans exhibit Five Charleston area World War II veterans are featured in an exhibit at the College of Charleston. "Through Their Eyes: WWII Concentration Camp Liberation as Seen by American GIs" honors veterans who witnessed conditions in German concentration camps in spring 1945. Also honored are veterans whose military units participated in the follow-up to liberation. Area veterans included are W.N. "Buck" Boyles and Henry Smith, both of Mount Pleasant; Mason S. "Mickey" Dorsey of Seabrook Island; and Bernard Warshaw of Walterboro, as well as the late Heyward Shealey of Charleston. They are among 16 veterans whose photographs, documents and "spoils of war" are shown. The exhibit is at the entrance of the special collections department on the third floor of the Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston, 205 Calhoun St. The exhibit will be at the Addlestone Library through the end of January. Visitors are welcome 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekends. The hours may change during the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. For more information, call 953-8028.
