Fatal shooting leaves 2 men facing charges
SUMMERVILLE — Dorchester County sheriff's detectives don't know why Craig Michael Canady Jr. was shot but said the purchase of auto body parts by one of the suspects tells them where Canady was likely killed. The day after Canady was killed, homicide suspect Donsurvi Chisolm was shopping for a seat belt, passenger seat and passenger interior door post panel for his 2005 Dodge Durango, a detective said in an affidavit. Canady, 20, who was shot in the left temple with a .22-caliber handgun, was seen riding in the front passenger seat of the Durango before his death, the detective said. Detectives have placed the time of Canady's death before dawn on Sept. 13. Records show that he made a phone call on his cell phone at 4:13 a.m., but it wasn't used after that. A hunter found Canady's body Sept. 15 in a ditch on Clubhouse Road. They have arrested acquaintances of the victim, David Leon White, 29, and Chisolm, 27, on charges of murder. Chisolm went before a magistrate Wednesday morning, but only a circuit judge can set bail on murder. White went before a magistrate late last week, after his arrest. Chisolm was arrested in Jacksonville, Fla., after detectives learned he was trying to enroll his children in school there, Capt. Tom Marshall said. Marshall said a phone number that kept popping up in Chisolm's records turned out to be a salvage yard. Detectives learned Chisolm tried to buy replacement auto body parts the day after Canady's death, but his credit card was denied. Chisolm returned the next day and bought the passenger seat and interior door post, the affidavit said. The original front passenger seat of the Durango had been replaced when detectives searched it and the seat belt had been cut from the harness, the detective said.

Now, auto parts can get you killed.

Mayor, I don't believe that Canady was killed over auto parts. What the article is saying is that detectives now believe that Chisolm, the suspect, shot Canady inside of the Dodge Durango that he was buying the parts for after the killing. My guess is to possibly get rid of any evidence such as blood splatter. Chisolm must not watch CSI because he would have to do a whole lot more than replace a few interior parts to get rid of all evidence. Shooting someone in the head inside of a vehicle creates more evidence than one can imagine.
