MONCKS CORNER — Town Administrator Dale Surrett accepted a job Thursday as county administrator for Oconee County, leaving the post he has held since 2004. Surrett, who could start as early the first week of July, will replace County Administrator Tom Hendricks. Surrett applied for the job last year because he was familiar with the area, having worked for six years as director of Greenville County's Emergency Management office, and thought it would be a good match for him and his family. "It's kind of an overwhelming feeling," the Aiken native said. "I'm excited about it. It feels like a good time to be there and bring my experience and talents to the table." His salary will start at $100,000, about $24,000 more than he makes in his current position.
