Chef at Sanctuary

Robert Wysong, executive chef at Kiawah Island's signature restaurant the Ocean Room at the Sanctuary, recently announced the appointment of Kevin Ives as chef de cuisine.

Ives moves to Kiawah from L'Escalier, the AAA Five Diamond restaurant at The Breakers resort in Palm Beach, Fla,. where he had been restaurant chef since 2004.

He reported to work on June 18, and his plans include an overhaul of the current menu.

Ives replaces Chris Brandt, who left the Sanctuary this spring for new opportunities in New York.

Ives has refined his skills and culinary vision in the kitchens of John Farnsworth's John's Island Club; with Matthias Radits at The Breakers, and with Peter Merriman at Bamboo Bistro, Maui, Hawaii.

Look for an eclectic mix of influences from North Africa to France, Spain to Southeast Asia, as Ives puts his spin on the platters of this region's top destination dining establishment, The Ocean Room.
