State Report The Charleston Battery will take on the El Paso Patriots in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on June 26 at Blackbaud Stadium. The match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Established in 1914, the 94th U.S. Open Cup is open to all amateur and professional teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. All teams from the USL First Division and Major League Soccer automatically qualified for the tournament this season. Amateur teams and teams from the USL Second Division and the Professional Developmental League had to go through a qualifying process. The Battery beat the Central Florida Kraze, 3-0, Tuesday night to advance to the second round, while the Patriots, like the Battery from the USL's First Division, beat Miami FC in penalty kicks. Tickets for the game are available for $5 — $10 (2007 season-ticket holders can purchase discounted tickets to this game for only $5). Brewer had more than 30 offers and narrowed his decision to Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and LSU. College basketball College of Charleston coach Bobby Cremins was asked to participate in The Benetton Basketball Camp in Treviso, Italy, from July 18-22. Cremins will be the only U.S. coach at the youth camp. --Wofford point guard Drew Gibson withdrew from the NBA draft and will return for his senior season, the school said.
